trying to remove hanguard on AK, help
I've followed the direction but the rear end of the top hanguard will not budge!!! I've moved the takedown lever back and forth but nothing...HELP ME!!!
Directions I'm following:
With the lever not quite vertical, grasp the rear end of the upper handguard/gas tube assembly and lift it up from the rear sight block. It might be necessary to wiggle the takedown lever back and forth to locate the release point for the rear end of the upper handguard/gas tube assembly. Once the rear end of the assembly is clear of the rear sight base, pull the front of the gas tube away from the gas block.

rotate the wood out after you are done playing with the lever. handgaurd swivels around gas tube 0 -
You can rotate the wood off without removing the handguard/gas tube assembly first? 0 -
BINGO BANGO...I got it. The instructions I had did not say to remove bolt and bolt carrier. Man was that bugging me, just got the rifle yesterday, it's my first AK. Thanks guys. 0 -
You're not alone. I beat mine up pretty bad too, before I finally figured out how to twist it off. Replaced it with a polymer one. 0 -

I know, rub it in...my excuse stands though. My first AK+no manual+internet instructions...not the best combo.[B)] Now that I know how to get it apart I think it's my easiest gun to break down!!! 0
