Thompson Contender G2 w/Super 14 barrel

I recently got a TC Contender G2 pistol receiver, and a .17HMR barrel. All is fine so far. Then I got a used .44 Mag Super 14 Barrel. When I attach the barrel to the receiver, I can't cock the hammer it's like it is not pushing back the hammer release gizmo. Is there a compatibility problem with G2 and the Super 14 barrel, or is this a maintenance/parts issue with the barrel?
