Under 200 for those with normal conditions.

I'm sitting at 228 right now. Needs to come down a bit.

I have no idea what mine is. Hope it's good, but I sure do love scrambled eggs, yellow grits w/ butter, sausage and bacon, so therefore my cholesterol is probably high.

[8D]--HDL (good cholesterol) should be 40 or less--

LDL (bad cholesterol) should be 100 or less--

--Combined total of 200 is desiraable--

They change it every time I see the doctor. It's a moving target I can't get to, because every time I get to it, they move it lower. Cholesterol is one of the few things I've never had a problem with, but they finally put me on Lipitor anyway. I think they must own stock in the company.

These numbers don't quite add up. Where's the error?

Well I'm in trouble, my HDL was 46 and my LDL was 228...whoops. AND I'M ONLY 23!

My BP is not a problem, 110/64 is typical.

[8D]-Yo Spurge- Of course they don't add up, a count of 200 is "desirable" MAX--Very few, except young athletes have they're Chol. readings of 40/100 and this is just a resonable goal (200) for adults--

--Remember when the Blood Pressure STD was 130/80, well now it's 120/70 and that is pretty hard to meet that goal--

--We should just play with guns--not Medicine-RIGHT ???

Blood pressure and cholesterol both went to lower numbers when the drug co came out with drugs to lower them.
The AMA backs them for a price.
Without taking their drugs it is almost impossible to get to the new numbers.
    It is called suddenly sick.

    Fair enough.

I was under the impression that the HDL recommendation was a range, not a maximum, but I've checked it (Mayo Clinic website) and I see that it is as you say. The numbers they gave are also the same as the ones presented above.

Guns are definitely more fun than cholesterol. That's why I have a range date tomorrow afternoon[:p][:p][:p]

I have a firm belief that the so-called Doctors who want the cholesterol level down real low has money invested in the drug Co`s. I took that crap called Lipitor and it darn neared killed me. I have been off any medication for over a year and my level is at 240 and I have no problems. The problem I have is with the Doc who wants me to take that muscle killing Lipitor. Naturally, I told him where to go.[:)][:)][:)]
