Met Doug Wilson and sig 232 yesterday ...
Went to `The Goose's House' yesterday, at the Evergreen Air Museum,
in McMinnville, OR.
Wow! I have loads of aeroplane photos that I won't bother
to bore you with, Here's what they have there - very much
worth a trip to see it! http://www.sprucegoose.org/

Here's the front of the museum - you can see the HK-1
flying boat - known as the "Spruce Goose" centered in
the middle, behind the large tinted windows Actually, it's
a 'Birch Goose' - not a 'Spruce Goose!'
Here's Doug Wilson who hosted us for the day - took us
through the Goose and a B-17G ... and gave us a guided
run of the place! There was lots, and lots, and LOTS to
see there - definitely an 'A+++++ air museum!'

'Zip' was pretty much blown away - it was much
better than I thought it would be - absolutely
incredible, matter of fact!!

Looking forward in the Goose - the flight deck was up the
stairwell!

Here's looking aft - I could not - as hard as I tried - get my
mind around the fact that this monster plane was made of
wood and screws. ... it still does not compute!

That's us on the inspection platform for the SR-71 ... those
are just a couple of the eight engines that are on the wings
of the ole Goose.

Doug's perfect daughter, Deanna (what a sweetheart), Sig232
and his beautiful/charming wife, Deb, joined us at the air
museum, later in the day. Delightful people, all!
Doug and sig232 - sitting next to his lovely wife, Deb - joined
us for dinner at McMinnimins (where we had dinner the night
before) ... and it was just as good last night! sig232 and Deb
had come down from their home near Portland - wonderful
dinner conversation, with a lot of laughter definitely
punctuating our dinner conversation throughout the
evening!

After dinner we went to a martial arts studio and met Doug's wife, the
lovely (and in shape) Audrey (a green belt), and 'perfect daughter,
Deanna.' Nice wife and awesomely 'perfect daughter!'
Doug left for home then and sig232, Deb, Gale and I snuck back to that
circa 1886 hotel across the street from McMinnimins ... whose ground
floor was transformed into an old fashioned ice cream parlor ...
complete with a period player piano playing softly in the background.
The photo of the ice cream parlor is below.

Wonderful people/wonderful day! If you ever come this way, take
Doug up on his offer to see the air museum ... you won't be sorry!
As you read this, we're heading South down that long lonesome
highway - after promising Doug, and sig, to never reveal to the
millions of Kalifornians, in the `Republic of Southern Kalifornia,'
any of the good times we've had and the great things we've seen
in deepest, darkest Oregon! I'm sworn to Photoshopping rain into
all of my photos - complete with grey rain clouds in the sky!

Dougs daughter Deanna is very attractive, doesn't get her looks from Doug, takes after Mom, and she can do a head high Karate kick so fast you don't have time to blink. Her Dates will be at her mercy!![:D]0 -

Re: Doug's Perfect Daughter.
When I first read Doug's descriptors about his daughter, I
was a little concerned the old feller was just a little
prejudiced about his Deanna ... and it kind of annoyed
me. I have two daughters and I can't truthfully say they
are 'perfect' - close, but not quite!
Well, Doug speaks the truth - Deanna is the sharpest and
most delightful young lady I've met in a long time. He's got
grounds for his bragging rights! She's right up there at the
100% mental and physical level ... and maintaining
effortlessly! ... it must be nice to be that smart and aware!
She'll be (easily) able to excel in any career she choses.
Deanna certainly has US convinced![:D]0 -
Very kind words, not really deserved.
It's easy to be nice to charming, smart people.
We (my family & I) were very pleased to meet them, and took away far more than we brought.
Check your wallet, Scott !!

Looks like a lot more than one "goose" in the hangar that day! [:p][:X]
Only kidding! Thanks for sharing the photos and memories with those like myself who will likely never see the goose...0 -
Just jump in your G5 and buzz on up. There is an airport across the street.
