Anyone use middle finger as trigger finger?
Beside folks that are missing their index finger(for whatever reason).
Would there be any good reason to use the middle finger on the trigger, and pressing your upper index finger against the frame BELOW the slide toward the target to steady midsection of gun.....while balancing/equalizing pressure against the frame on the otherside with the extended thumb on the non-grip hand?
For added steadiness, accuracy?
Is that a stupid idea? or possibly worthy of using in a range target shoot(not quick self-defence)

if you are a reader i suggest brians book, it is "the bible" of competetion hand gun shooting, and will improve anyones shooting, since you are new learn as much as you can in proper technique now, once you get into a habit now, it will be hard to break later

I've got arthritic small hands, and I can rack the slide of a standard 1911 by putting my thumb (either hand) through the trigger guard, curling my fingers around the top of the slide, and kinda pinching the slide back.
It is very slow, and I don't see much reason to do it, but it can be done.

Just an FYI - back in the bad old days of Service Revolvers, it was a common technique (at least with the Detroit PD) to practice shooting the revolver upside down using the "pinky" as the trigger finger. Why? Studies of actual combat pistol shooting showed that it was common to focus on the pistol/revolver of the "opponent". This led to many injuries to the "proper" trigger finger. If you were to find yourself with a wounded hand in an actual "Combat" situation where the other shooter was still up and running, you would use ANYTHING at your disposal to save your hind end. One of the down falls of "Combat" courses (ie: IPSC, PPC) is the bad guys aren't shooting back. 0 -
When I first shot an AK 47 I used my middle finger and the charging handle came back and smashed my trigger finger. My nail was bleeding and the skin was cut around the nail it wasn't to bad tho. 0 -

My "premise" for asking that was flawed and I regret posting it at all. Guess, I made my curiousity on being unconventional was pretty apparent.

Yes I have. Several years ago I broke my trigger finger so I shot with my middle finger. Nowadays I save my middle finger only for special occasions....[;)] 0 -
I use the social digit. Works for me.
As to the pic, I don't go to the range often. The first time I saw the orange target, I bought one and used it as my first target.
I have received criticism for shooting the "hostage" from many of my "betters". My response is, hey I just thought it was a cool target, just shot it up.
I don't aim for precision, just hits at CQ distances.
I can sight shoot, but don't, etc, ect, ect.

Also it looks like the bore of that rental 9mm needed a major cleaning. The bore rifling appear to be clugged making the bullets tumble.0 -

i've actually been curious about this since most revolvers are tough on my trigger finger. i have small hands and sometimes it feels like i'm gonna pull something other then the trigger! 0 -
I always use my pinky trigger finger and hold my gat sideways,
90? to the right so I can pull expended magazines with my teeth!
Some people at the range have smiled at me but I think my dew rag,
with the skull and cross bones on the back of my Blood's Jacket ,
keep away any of dat honky laughter!
