Yep, we sure miss him.
I especially miss him single-handedly getting the Brady Bill to pass.
I REALLY miss the fact that he passed the 1986 Machinegun Ban.....which never expires, EVER!
I LOVE how he signed the Mulford Act in 1967 as Gov of CA so that no one there can ever open carry!
Yep, gun owners have a LOT to miss about ole Ronnie!

This is from a thread here four years ago;
For the youngsters who don't remember Ronnie, let me tell you a little about him from my perspective.
The seventies were great to be young in. 18 Year olds could drink and vote. The sexual revolution was being won and our biggest concern was gas lines/prices and the USSR.
Jimmy Carter was the outgoing president and we all knew he was a flop. I was a young sailor aboard the USS FORRESTAL (aircraft carrier). The Iranians had just got the Ayatolla Komannie (sp) back from France and were holding American Embassy hostages in Tehran. The military rescue attempt at Desert One had failed.
Ronald Reagan is elected president. He promised to do whatever it took to get our people back from Tehran. He talked tough before the election and during the inaugeration speech he got a telephone call saying the hostages were boarding an aircraft for home during the telecast. The Iranian's were scared of him. I watched it live on tv.
He smoked Kadafi's tail in Libya for sponsoring terrorism and he took the Communist island of Grenada. He met the Commies head-on and didn't flinch. He didn't mince words either. The Soviet Poliburo thought he was insane and planning a First Strike aganist the USSR. He aided Afganistan against the Soviet invaders. He added the Contras against the Communist Sandanistas in Nicaragua (Iran/Contra deal to bypass Congress).
He gave us a 600 ship Navy, the largest since WWII. He started the SDI (Starwars Defence), He won the Cold War that had raged 55 years, and he directly caused the Berlin Wall to fall.
He brought back the pride to be an American that had been lost since the end of the Democratic incursion into Indochina. He really did make America kick up it's heels again. I know, I was there.
I'm sure I missed some stuff and the naysayers will rag about his memory and Nancy, but to be there during his terms was see history in the making.
Ronald Reagan is one President worthy of admiration and respect. He is leaving the world better than when he came to it. I will miss him.0 -
I liked the story he told of his battlefield experience and the heroic deeds of one of his buddies. That was before he was quietly reminded that he was relating the plot of one of the propaganda movies he was in made for the war department, since he was never on a battle field. Sadly the Alzheimers started well before he left office. 0 -

Ronnie was The Great Communicator, and by God he earned the title. He had moral and political standards, and he lived up to them.
Those who love to topple icons will no doubt havea field day with Reagan. Remember, though, that any legislation he signed was brought to him by Congress. And I don't buy the story that he mistakingly claimed battlefield experience. The version I heard had him poking fun at himself by referring to his wartime movie role.
He was a good man. I don't expect him, or anyone, to be faultless. I have my faults, and I hope others call me a good man when I am gone.0 -

Personally, I think George Bush the first was a helluva lot better president than Reagan was. Reagan was all mouth and no brains (almost literally on the latter). Bush has gotten short shrift from history despite being a brilliant foreign policy maker and a rather prescient military planner (guess that's what happens when you actually see combat).0 -
