Update on the kids who lost their dad in the wreck
It has been a long drawn out mess with everything for them. I stop in to check on them every other day and talk with their mom whenever I can. The funeral was hard. The kids were still in the hospital at the time.....and the family arguments have started. The mom has a lawyer that seems to be telling her how wonderful he is and that she will have nothing to worry about.....but I'm not impressed.
She has been staying at her parents house because she cannot stand to be at home. The 10 yr old is still in a hospital bed set up in the living room and the little 4 yr old will have surgery sometime soon to patch the internal mess going on from having a broken nose. The saddest thing is to hear little Abby (out of nowhere) start talking in her little girl voice about the wreck. She says things like "Daddy died" and then goes on about her way. The entire family has a long road ahead. The grandparents just look plum wore out from it all.

Super dooper sad. There really isn't a lot anyone can do or say about things like this. Its a day to day thing. I bet even in 5 yrs or so it still hasn't worked itself out to be "over" for them. 0 -
