MA guys: Tax Free Day ... funny story.
Funny story with Tax free day in MA....I lifted it elsewhere.
MA has a "tax free" weekend once per year now.
Decided to go to Police Supply in Waltham and grab a bunch of ammo and other stuff to save a few $$$. Got a bunch of 5.56 and .45 ACP.
One of the guys who works there is Waltham PD.
He volunteers to help me carry my ammo out to the car.
As we both come walking out there's a little old lady looking up at the store front sign. Both hands on hips with clear look of disapproval on her face. She had to be in her 80s and approx 5' tall.
She takes a look at me and says "are you boys in their buying guns?!"
I respond "no mam!"
She points to the large box on my shoulder and says
"Then what is that you are carrying on your shoulder?"
I respond "ammunition mam"
She figures she has me now and says
"young man* I don't thing the police would appreciate you buying and having all that ammunition!"
Guy behind me says with big grin on his face and large box on his shoulder
"mam, I AM the police and it's perfectly legal and acceptable for a law abiding citizen such as him to purchase this ammunition"
Her face gets all bunched up, and she turns with a "humph!" and storms off (at a rather slow pace I might add, but it was clearly an attempt at storming off on her part..)
We looked at each other and had a good laugh at that. Of course we both showed the elderyly women all the respect she deserved and earned at her age but stood our respective ground as to not leave her with a negative impression of guns and or gun owners, which is always important in my view.
Anyway, if you have not been to that store in Waltham they are a great bunch of guys there and have a good, albeit police oriented, supply of stuff and decent prices.
*I'm 42 BTW

I went to my gunshop today, 36.00 for 100 .45
walmart has them 25.00 for 100 [:D][:D][:D]
I wont go there for them, but no one said mom wont [:D]0 -
