You get my email? Think the e-mails here are kind of flaky

How do you like the Argentine Colt Sistama? I acquired one a while back, mint condition, super tight and accurate as all get out. Almost as good as my 1943 Colt 1911A1..[:D]

it was time to close up. the guard was closing the doors. I told him I never been to another war museum. he said most others are like this, but they don't have such a gun collection as this one. he started rattling off all the stuff they got, (on and on) I asked him what don't they have?! he said ummm... ummm....... a BAR, that's it! they got everything else. sooo.. being closing time, he offered to take me downstairs and show me the other goodies. going on display by the end of the year.

20mm sniper rifle. note box magazine and scope.

    stlmem29.jpg

    stlmem30.jpg

sniper rifle, I think this is .50 cal. american made, they also have japanese and other knockoffs around the corner.

    stlmem31.jpg

one of George S. Patton's uniforms. note the chrome plated helmet at the bottom of the stand.

    stlmem35.jpg

    stlmem36.jpg

across the street, they have a small pavilion with some names. WWII goes around it, foreground is Korean War, on the other end is Vietnam War.

    stlmem37.jpg

    stlmem38.jpg

...and that's the war memorial in st. louis.

Any particular reason you are flooding the front page with OLD posts?

You mentioned in your pizza thread a place on El Cajon called "Ben's." Where on El Cajon? I lived 1 block off of El Cajon Blvd. for a year and a half and never saw it. Some info would be much appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

Noticed that you mentioned Talkeetna in your user information.

Really none of my business but wondering if it is a vacation spot that you visit often.

Have you ever stayed at the Roadhouse ?

I have only been there once and that was in January 1956. Uncle Sam thought it you be nice to send aa Airborne Regt. up there for some winter training.

We bivouacked at Fort Rich and jumped near Talkeetna.
Our Ride back to back to Ancorage was in C-124's.

After a month on snowshoes we were in the best physical shape the Regt. had ever been.

Re: the Roadhouse. Understand that a lot of old hippie types make the trek up that way every summer.

Sure hope to get back someday.

Once again, none of my business about your knowledge of Talkeetna.

    Just curious.

    Best regards, 11thcanopy

    Hi Gary!

At the moment I plan to be in Ocala for about a week - I think.

Back in 1950 there were four kids on our block in Phila. known as
the Four Musketeers - we were and remain very close friends. One
of those kids, Barb, lives in Ocala. Yesterday we've just about got it
all scheduled out as to what we are going to do. I think Barb will meet
me in NYC and we'll travel into Phila. together to the home of 'Number
Three and Number Four will travel up from DE for the first reunion and
photograph since 1952! Then Barb and I will fly back to Orlando - at that
point I'm not clear where I'll be, or for how long. I will be in Ocala - for sure -
for a few days/week to visit with the Fire Chief - Inspector(?) - who is my
God Son and his sister (my God Daughter) and their mom, Barb.

... now you know what I know - so far. I'll send you mail and we'll stay in touch.

I'm going to Chicago and MI in two weeks so there may be a 'blackout' period
where I'll be unreachable - I'm leaving the laptop at home so we can have an
    unintedrrupted R&R.

SO, bottom line is I'll be in Ocala with a rented car for about a week - I think.
I'd be interested in meeting you where you like but I haven't pinned down the
    exact time frame, yet.
