Why do Republicans love Hollywood so much?
Reagan, Schwarzenegger, and now Fred Thompson... heck, there was even a short-lived effort to get Mel Gibson to run!
What is it about the GOP that they've never seen an actor they didn't want to elect? Of course I am exaggerating, but the Democrats, for all the supposed liberalism of Hollywood, have yet to get an actor elected to governor or president... of for that matter even run one as a candidate.
Reagan sold weapons to Iran for hostages... brilliant move.
Schwarzenegger is a bigger liberal than most California Democrats.
And Fred Thompson? Well, Fred was for McCain-Feingold before he was gainst it and was against running for re-election before he was for it before he was against it again... and if that seems to be slender pickings, it's because he didn't do much during his time in the Senate.
But he was on Law & Order!
I guess that count for something...

Schwarzenegger got it because his name was more well known that any other durring the special election to outs Gray Davis!
The people of California were fed up with Davis and wanted him out with anyone else there but him. Arnold had the biggest name on the ticket and therefore won.
He will stay awhile as California is famous for leaveing a govenor in his place for a long time.0 -

Today I've spoken to a 'Hollywood type' in Bangkok, Calgary and Toronto. Later
today, I'll talk with a guy in Fulham (suburb of London), England. Three of them
are gun enthusiasts.
As far as 'The South' ... been all over the South. Listening to the folks in
Atlanta is quite a bit different than chatting with some folks from Charleston,
SC - and they are different from the folks up in Ashford, NC. My wife's people
are Texans (since before '36) - fought against my ancestors at Gettysburg and
probably in other battles, as well.
I don't speak for anyone/any place else ... it's silly to do so.[:o)]
