    You sure about that?
Maybe he is not in that position any longer,.......just looked under Marion County Fire Rescue, and City of Ocala, and the current chiefs, and deputy chiefs, are not him!

Uhhhhh, last I heard he was - too young to retire - I'll check with his sister, Vonnie.

Maybe he's the Fire Marshal, I recall hearing something about a fire marshal sometime ago.

    Duh!

Just sent him an e-mail and we'll know later on today.

Could be,..........also the State Fire College is here too!
When I was younger, and became a firefighter, they sent the guys for the exams down to S. Florida, from here.
I was in West Palm at that point.

Ah - no, he started as a Paramedic/Fire-fighter ... he loved the Paramedic part BUT also
loved to drive the big trucks, then moved on to Firehouse Captain ... then on to ...
uh, apparently I can't recall. He's highly decorated - I've got two stories you'd enjoy
about him - once when his pardoner was shot on an entry and another time his captain
snatched him up off the floor at a full run - by his turnout - under a collapsing church
roof - during all those church burnings, a couple of years back.

Zipper,.......that is really funny! I have probably met him, if he has had that job for any time.
I used to do HVAC work for a lot of the big restaurant chains,i.e. Brinker International, which owns Chili's, Macaroni Grill, etc.
Also Darden, which has Red Lobster, and Olive Garden. When we put in, or changed, the big exhaust hoods over their broilers, it required a fire inspection.
If he is a pretty laid back guy, that is easy to get along with, I probably remember him!
Liked the guy too, he never gave me a problem![:D]

Yeah - Phil's very cool - he was a Corpsman on the USS Leahy (http://www.ussleahy.com/Leahy.html) back in the 70's - stayed with us a lot while she/he was in San Diego - used to love the beer and our big couch to sleep it off on!

I'm surprised the Ocala FD doesn't have a website anymore - they used to. Just checked
    and it's poofed!

Phil hangs out on GunBoards a lot - he's a big poster there. I forget offhand what his nick is there - could find out for you if you like.

The City of Ocala, has limited info for fire-rescue now, as above.
The second is the County site.
Thanks for the offer to get his nick, but right now, I don't have any more free time to post on another board![;)]
Can't pull off the 25 a day post count that you manage.[:D]

Yeah - that looks familiar - he was there under the chiefs
    - when he was a chief. [8D]

That 25/day post average comes from that bad year on the couch. Apparently,
they take your highest post data and keep it up - makes it look like I have
always posted 25/day - not true. I've not posted for a week or two and it
    never changes.

... looks like it's my fate!

Wife's B'Day - time to go out for dinner with some friends and then maybe a
    dessert at the Cheesecake Factory!

He's got the "cushy" job now!
Probably prefers it, as there would be less politics involved.
How old of a guy is he?
I was a firefighter/EMT,........didn't do the paramedic course, because I had left right after I got my EMT cert.
I got in at 18, and right after getting on with Palm Beach County, they instituted the "dual role" deal. That is why I had to become an EMT.
I soon found out that I was spending 85% or more, of my time involved in med calls. I, unlike him, really wanted to be a firefighter, not the med side.
I was also in, right about the time, of the coming to the screen of AIDS![xx(] Didn't have all the splash shields, etc., back then, plus I got tired of pulling drunks, and druggies out of submerged vehicles, and being bled on, by folks that didn't answer the screening questions truthfully. I had to go through hepatitus testing for quite some time, after I was exposed by an IV drug users blood.
Lucked out, and came out negative. I also didn't like watching family members come running into the ER entrance, after we had just dropped off a "coder", that didn't make it,.......many were seniors, and I would see the wives, and children break down.
I'm a pretty tough guy, but that started to take a toll mentally on me.
Since I saw that I would not be doing largely what I had gone in for,......I packed it in, and started in this trade.
    End of story![:D]
I do have some interesting "fire stories" too though! I was in on a big hotel fire on the beach, that claimed 2 firefighters lives,.......flashback. Blew them totally out of their bunker gear, and scott packs,.........they felt no pain.
Take care, and give me a ring as your date approaches,........cell is on 24/7/365![8D]
Edit: Wish her happy BDay for me,.......enjoy!

I'll call you later tonight - I'd like to chat with you. What time do you usually turn in?

I'll bet you heard about/read the story about his pard getting blown into the bathtub
(.44) in a rear window entry - was all over the news there, I believe. [8D]

Honestly,.......unless it happened in the last year, I wouldn't have heard it!
The past year, is the first time in 15 years, that I have even been able to have any time free. My stuff has always been 24/7,.....have even worked on Christmas Day many times.
A year ago, I downsized dramatically, and am mainly concentrating on huge Industrial customers that I took care of all those years.
Make virtually the same money,........far less work, and headache.
I'm sure you know the drill![8D]
I DO turn in fairly early though,........as I rise with the chickens too.
Mornings I go to jobsites,.........tomorrow is a company that makes all of the shelving that is in your closets,....hint!
I either go to the office, or use my home office, if I can, the latter part of the day. That is where I do all of this valuable input, between looking at plans, or doing heat load calcs on the puter!
I plan on being in the ole home office tomorrow, if all goes well in the AM,.........so why don't you call me then. I'll send you my home number in your e-mail in a few.
I presume you have the same as me phone wise,.......unlimited LD!![:D]
Have fun with the wife tonight!
I am also sure that this is very boring to other forum members at this point!![:D][:D]

OK - yeah, we have unlimited LD - you've got to meet up with Phil, though. He's quite a firearms enthudsiast and really a great guy to know - you guys would have a lot to talk about over a beer or two - guarantee it! I'll be in touch with him in a day or two!

    Talk to you tomorrow AM.
