...I have a lot of good friends that are sellers, BIG sellers of gun parts on flea barf, why? Because the search engine here on GB is not near as good for searching out gun parts as the fleabarf engine.

A couple oF Guys that have made a GOOD living for 6-8 yrs on fleabarf are just getting out of the business altogether now that the fleabay nazis are banning any part that can make a gun "fire".

Im not talking about "casual" sellers, many make 6 figue $$$ selling their gun parts there...and most of it could move here if ya'll want the biz, and fix the lame search engine.

...Others are movig here, but because of the crap search engine here, they dont know if they will make it here. On flebarf you can just put "1911parts" (or other brand parts) in search and come up w/all the parts listed. here, you have to name the specific part.

BG if it does not change this feature of their search engine are missing a GREAT opportunity...[;)]

LISTEN & TAKE HEED OH GB POWERS THAT BE! FLEABAYS NAZI ANTI-GUN AGENDA IS RUNNING OFF/BANNING GUN PARTS SALES..AND THE BUYERS NEED A PLACE TO GO! MANY IVE TALKED TO WOULD LIKE TO COME HERE THAT HAVE A LARGE, LOYAL CUSTOMER BASE..BUT ARE HESITANT/CONCERNED BECAUSE OF THE LAME SEARCH ENGINE ON THE AUCTION SIDE. HERE'S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU! DON'T BE LAME AND LET IT PASS YOU BY! UPGRADE YOUR SEARCH ENGINE, WHEN YOU SNOOZE YOU LOOZE! YOU GOT TO ADMIT, THE "PARTS DEPT" HERE RATHER BITES..BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE TO IF YOU UPGRADE YOUR SEARCH ENGINE.

The short answer is that our Parts category will soon be modeled after the current eBay format. If you have particular requests for a category addition or modificaion please open a support request and submit it nowso it can be considered for inclusion.

We are almost ready to go to QA testing with our latest upgrade and it will blow your socks off both from a speed and functionality standpoint. We have integrated an entire suite of new functions into the new MyGunBroker section. Sorting, Page control, printing, searching and Feedback are all greatly enhanced along with an all new Support and Fraud center . The technology behind this upgrade will give us the ability to integrate checkout, shipping and enhanced messaging into the system on the next upgrade. When this is all online at the end of an Auction sellers will be able to accept credit card payment directly through their own Merchant accounts (or BidPay) and interface with UPS / FedEx to print airbills, send reminder emails and print shipping documentation for the buyer / buyer's FFL.

Before we start on the discussion of the search engine, we want to make sure that you are clicking on the green Smart Search link up at the top right of the page this will open up http://gunbroker.com/Auction/SearchForm.asp We had five of six people come to the booth at SHOT last year raising the issue of a "lame search engine" as you put it. So, we went over to one of the computers there in the booth and clicked "smart search" . Every single one of these customers exclaimed "WHERE DID THAT COME FROM!!!! "... From that page you can search by seller, search for just used items etc etc.

Using your example from above it is very easy to search just the parts category for used items with no reserve and the words "1911 and Spring " in the title or description with a current bid between $0.01 and $24.99 ending in the next 24 hours and sort the results with lowest price first. (Right this minute there are two meeting this description)

Please let us know if this helps or if we are misunderstanding your question.

    To all....

I'm glad GB, INC is upgrading the auction functions. Wonder when they would have gotten around to telling us of the upgrades if Colt hadn't posted what he posted.

Notice that their response to his posting was almost immediate?

My hat is off to Colt. He had to stand up and YELL his aggrivation in order for GB higher-ups to respond.

The mushroom theory is alive and well. Best, Joe

Well, as Nunn suggested, he did open a support issue and ask. (Very politely too...) We don't often get the chance to hang out in the forums during the day...

Ebay has announced - New gun restrictions

In mid-August, we will be updating our Firearms, Weapons and Knives Policy to place more restrictions around gun-related items. Once these changes take effect, we will prohibit listings of any firearm part that is required for the firing of a gun. This includes items like bullet tips, brass casings and shells, barrels, slides, cylinders, magazines, firing pins, trigger assemblies, etc. Please read the Firearms, Weapons and Knives Policy for more details on our current policy. As you may know, eBay does not allow the listing of any items which are regulated by individual states or the federal government; however, there are still a large number of firearm-related parts that are legal and are widely available in retail stores. These items have also historically been allowed on eBay.After learning that some items purchased on eBay may have been used in the tragedy at Virginia Tech in April 2007, we felt that revisiting our policies was not only necessary, but the right thing to do. After much consideration, the Trust & Safety policy team - along with our executive leaders at eBay Inc. - have made the decision to further restrict more of these items than federal and state regulations require. This new update continues to encourage safety among our community members and brings our policies in the U.S. and Canada in closer alignment with our existing policies in other markets around the globe.

    Sincerely,

    Matt Halprin

I just got suspended for being "inappropriate" on the flea bag forums. I did suggest gunbroker auctions to them, Which is against their policies. I put a ripple some guys shorts about the porn on ebay, (he insisted that you could not buy dirties panties on there and that the porn was well protected from adolescent viewing). Told him to get his head out of the sand. He was probably (and sounding like it), was anti-gun any way. I will tell as many as I can to move on over. It's just a 7 day suspension to think about what I did and to read a adhere to their policies, "Yah, that will happen!!!" I'll be back to recruit more people over, if they don't already know or plan to. But, I was also jumping in on all the groups I could to suggest changing auction sites to them. Not that I care, but my wife buys a lot of gift and clothing products off of their site, that won't be happening any more, and a lot of responses I've seen and received from e-mails, suggested the same. Hope they do a fast downward spiral. It effects a lot more than their gun parts and accessories categories. Hopefully helps build our gunbroker site of good buyers/sellers here. Not that you guys aren't already good people, but good to add to the overall community here.

I suspect Ebay is big enough they believe they can afford not making sales on gun parts and still make a crap pot of money. I realize a brink and mortor store only has so much sales floor square footage. Can it be possible that Ebay needs to eliminate some of the lesser sales areas to make room?

Aw heck, the more money you make the more discriminating you can be.

Yep! That's it. Profit is the main motive. So far it's been pretty successful.
