What is a TIF file and why does my camera...
save a copy in JPG format and TIF? The TIF copy does not look as clear as the JPG.?.? Doesn't this waste space on the camera's card? Thanks![:)]

A TIF is usually considered a fax file format,........you most likely will have to drill through all the in depth settings until you find the choice of save to formats. 0 -
TIF is a format similiar to RAW that many new digital cameras have that basically doesnt compress the file info. it means your file size will be much bigger because the cameras computer didnt compress and therefore remove any original picture data. TIF and RAW formats are not good for everyday shooting. They are for professional pictures where post processing digital manipulation is necesarry (photoshop) and therefore all data is needed. You should change the settings on your camera to shoot .JPG and you will have basically the same picture but a smaller file and thus able to hold more pictures on your memory card. 0 -

TIFF is uncompressed data, jpeg is compressed (with loss of data- lossy compression vs. non-lossy) but jpeg was desiged by the Joint Photographic Experts Group specifically for saving photo like color data. 0 -
