    THey did seal the vault...just not well enough.

    Here are a couple of more pics. I had to wipe a tear or two when I saw these. You can see a LITTLE bit of shiny chrome on the bumper in te bottom right of the engine pic. Maybe it's not too bad. And MAYBE someone with money to burn can put this beauty back in tip-top shape.

    This is why car mausoleum `burial' is ALWAYS better. If you are familiar with human
    burials (and I am) you'd find that unless on a high hill in the desert you will
    always have MAJOR moisture deterioration under ground.

    What a waste ... everyone should have known that in 1957 - I remember watching
    the TV coverage back in `57 when they did that. Set me off to making some time
    capsules myself - only I forgot where they were!
