  LEO teaching the Women's Self Defense Course at my range said that you want to keep the box, and use commercial Ammo fro Self-Defense, so that forensics can duplicate the round, and so that Prosecuting attorneys have less chance to blame you of "looking for a kill" by having a handloaded "Hot" or "Destructive" ammo.

  Any good hollow point of soft point bullet (if in a sufficiently high velocity round) will all function essentially the same: hit, expand, destroy tissue, dump energy, kill or incapacitate.

  For the S&W 500 ... may I suggest a nice 700 gn LFP, 27.5 gr Lil-Gun, 1027fps, CCI SP ...
  not recommended to shoot through wallboard.
