Wifey went deer hunting last night...
...with her car. Smacked the doe, killed the car, doe got up and ran away. No one injured, except Audrey's pride.
Perfect Daughter Deanna says Mom froze up, had plenty of time to stop, plenty of room to dodge with anti-lock brakes. She didn't hit the brakes hard enough to engage the anti-lock system. This was in our tin-foil Scion, so the itty bitty lady deer did lots of damage.
Got it towed to the best body shop in town. Will have deductible and rental car to pay.
I'm rather angry/happy about it - nobody hurt = happy, her stacking up the car after backseat driving me to death for years = angry.
Oh, well...it was an ACCIDENT.

A1, your family has a history of auto-hunting, doesn't it? Or, am I confusing your family with another?
Glad the ladies are OK.

A2 - unfortunately, we do a lot of deer hunting with cars in this family. Fish and game won't even let us keep them, even if they're in season and we have tags. The give them to organizations that feed the hungry.
Jim - the deer was pretty OryGun - they are all over the freeways and highways in OryGun, all the time. There are something like 63,000 human deaths per year from collisions with deer in this state.
You may wonder why this is not noted in NTSB highway fatality statistics - it's because OryGun doesn't report them as car accident - they report as NATURAL DEATHS.
Thanks for y'all's concern.

A2's 'main squeeze' got a giggle or two outta that one!
That braking issue is bothersome, however. Is there any way you could perhaps practice in a Safeway parking lot - at night - with a tall road cone, maybe covered by an old fur coat?

Man so much game in Oregon you can't help but hit them quite often. Hear that folks? Oregon = the promise land. [:D]
Glad everyone was ok Doug.0 -
Thank you.
Jim - you obviously learned your lesson.
You others, do the same with your move to OryGun as the definition of a bachelor: "A bachelor is a man who didn't make the same mistake once."

Here in Mo., it used to be that you could hold the state responsible for damages when hitting a Deer. But, of course they've had that changed, it now falls on the drivers insurance.
A couple years ago I hit two..at the same time[B)], without a great amount of damage on my 4wd truck.
Glad she wasn't hurt, Doug.[:)]0 -
Glad all two legged creatures are unscathed!! 0 -
Even though the bigger cars take a little more gas, it is worth it to survive these types of collisions. 0 -
