The summit is quite nice, but you need to take your housing with you. But the view is worth the walk!!

Be sure and spend some time in the Columbia Gorge on the Oregon side if you come back south. Take the old scenic highway and stop by the observatory and there are great waterfalls. Can't help with Mt. Rainier though been years since I have been there.

You made a good choice with Annie's! I have eaten there a few times myself!

My favorite place to stay near Mt Rainer (alothough not right on the mountian) was my grandparents cabin over near the little nacheze river in the Rainer National Forest!

I have had many adventures around Rainer but never stayed at any of the places.

Sorry, but all the places I knew are gone. The californians who took over Washington said they were all eye sores. Old timers remember a style of motel that had 10-15 different cabins, rentable by the day, week,or mo.
Of course you can come on down the other side to Whites Pass. Good motels there. Visit Yakima and drop down to Goldendale. Cross over the river there into Oregon.

If you get down to Goldendale drop by the Sam Hill Castle on the banks of the Columbia.
    Well Worth The Trip.

There is a nice lodge up high called Paradise I believe. Its an old log lodge and very rustic, a fun place to stay and close to many hiking trails. It may be hard to get last min reservations but worth a try.

Enjoy the trip its beautiful country. Levenworth is a nice drive east of Seattle. Its a Danish style town in a beautiful mountain valley. So many places to see and so little time, Huh Zip?

Levenworth is a little like Solvang, but a lot smaller and in a deep MT valley.

Stop and say hi if you can on the way back!

Yep - been to Levenworth before - and you're right, it's not only like Solvang but just as
good, or better! Smaller is often better when it comes to towns like that. Solvang's just
    just getting too big.

I'll give you a call in a coupe of days - already talked to Doug - and hopefully, well all go to his air museum together ... your schedule permitting ... if not we'll probably see you for a cup of coffee or dinner.

I didn't know people actually went up to Washington to visit tourist attractions. I do like it though, lots of wilderness. You just missed a great Ozzfest at the Gorge Amphitheater, that was cool.
