There is nothing hatefull about what was said.

    It's all BS.

    This is or was America.

You can keep those others at your place, if you don't mind.

I caught a blip about that on the TV last night, frankly it pi$$e$ me off! In all fairness it's no worse than the pro-Lifers who work at pharmacies and refuse to sell birth control pills[}:)]
ANY employer worth a damn would fire employees in either of the scenarios I mentioned[}:)]

What gets me also is that the politically correct would have us adapt to their culture!

Who the heck buys bacon at target?

I always believe private business and employeers should have the right to dictate their own business policies. If Target doesnt have a problem with it then thats their right. I feel the same way about the pharmacies as well. The last thing anyone wants is the government telling citizens how to run their businesses.

You are right, of course, it's always better to have the employee be the ramrod and boss, just as long as you ain't American or Christian![8D]

That's a fair and good way of putting it.

I don't see what the big deal is here. Religion in the workplace has been an issue for a very long time. It's funny how some people spin something as petty as not scanning a slab of bacon into some big conspiracy to take over the country.

apples and oranges. The pharmacists refusing to fill abortion pill prescriptions are usually self-employed and own their own businesses.

Muslims have already shoved their agenda down the throats of the school board at Richardson, Texas, getting a special time set aside during the day for prayers. Imagine if the Christian kids made a similar request. LOL.

  • CA sucks
They have free will, they don't have to handle pork if they don't want to. However, it is a store, not a government institution.
If they won't handle pork, then the store has every right to fire them for refusing to perform duties of their job. They should have known part of their job dealt with pork, and should not have applied to/ accepted the job if they weren't willing to handle pork.

They don't want to handle pork? quit.

My job requires someone to be there 24/7. That means someone works on Sundays. We know going in that we might have to work Sundays. Some people have religious beliefs that forbid working on Sunday. If you have such a belief, you simply don't apply. If you apply, and state that working Sundays is a problem, and this question is asked, we don't hire you.

The problem with that is a lot of people say working Sundays isn't a problem until they are hired, then they suddenly remember they can't do it. They should either quit or be fired. I guess that would be to simple.

Does it also include bags of pork skins or cans of pork BBQ?
    Where does it end?

I would load me a buggy up with all kinds of Bacon products and get in her line. After she refuses and allows someone else to take over, I would break out the old expired card and use it. Nope, it didn't go through. What a shame and walk off. After 10 or more customers doing this, the manager might make changes in cashier staff.

In reference to "prolifer" in an earlier post, I'm not sure pro-lifers are against birth control pills. They usually want to stop people from aborting live babies. That was not a good analogy to me.

THere is a law in Illinois signed by the current Democrat Governor that says all pharmacists must offer the morning after pill in spite the there morals, convictions of religious beliefs. Walgreens fired two pharmacists. That refused to sell the drug.

I never saw the similarity before now, but a pharmacist MUST sell the drug and a check out clerk doesn't have to sell the bacon.

My rub is with the government.

OH MY GOSH!!! I can hear it now if a christian wanted prayer time. "Tsk, tsk!! Separation of church and state! Separation of church and state!" and/or "The right wing zealots are shoving their religion down people's throats!" and/or "The christian fundamentalists want everybody to worship their god!"

The woman was selling bacon, she just wouldn't touch it. Now if she had said, "I refuse to sell this to you," then she needs to get fired. As is, she just didn't want to bag it. Apples and oranges here.

    Few notes:
    1) Morning after pill. If the customer demands it, it is your job to sell it to her. Regardless of your religion. If my manager tells me to come to work on Sunday, and in return I will quote a Bible to him, and refuse to come to work, I will get fired, and rightly so.
It is a womans body, it is a womans choice. You don't like Morning after pill? Don't buy it. But do not dare to tell me what to buy or not. I will decide that, thank you very much.
    2) Muslims need a reality check, they are in USA. If they want to avoid pigs and have sex with camels they can go back to Arab land... No, actually WE need a reality check. Muslims are getting rather uppity here because WE ARE LETTING THEM TO. I, for example, simply do not deal with store clerks who can't speak understandable english. If a store clerk tells me "I can't service you, I must hit my head on the floor facing Mecca right now", I would be calling a district manager, demanding the firing of the empoyee.

Um, actually no, the controversy was when pharmacists who worked for WALMART refused to fill prescription that went against their Fundamentalist Christian beliefs. So since the Muslims worked for another similar big box retailer (Target), I'd say it is a PERFECT comparison, or do you believe it is OK for big box retail employees to IMPOSE their religious beliefs upon the customers as long as those beliefs are Christian?

If the pharmacists in question said, "I will ring it up, but I refuse to touch it or put it in the bag," yeah, I'd be annoyed - BECAUSE NO ONE IS ALLOWED BEHIND THE COUNTER OF THE PHARMACY. That is the same as prohibiting its sale.

Now this woman at Target, she didn't say she wouldn't sell it to the woman in question (yes, I know that she wouldn't touch it to run it over the scanner, so technically she was not wanting to sell it to her - but I view that as a technicality) - she just wouldn't touch the stuff. But did the woman leave with her bacon? Yes. When a pharmacist says no, you don't leave with anything.

Now those muslim cabbies who refused to take fares if they possessed alcohol - THAT was idiotic. They were outright refusing to serve based on religous beliefs. That's wrong.

But this woman, being a brand, spanking new immigrant to this country, has found herself a job and is obviously trying to do her best by not being a total burden to society.

What I don't get is that the same liberal wackjobs that want to turn "separation of church & state" into "separation of church from state" will bend over backwards to install Islamic religion in place where they just removed Christianity.

There is no intellectually honest argument for those actions, yet they keep doing it. How is it that Americans pursue destroying the American Judeo-Christian valued culture by removing all Christianity from out government institutions with the excuse of separating church and state, yet they turn right around and bow down to Islam in those same institutions where they claim religion doesn't belong?

And more disturbing yet, why the American citizens put up with it.

As I see it this is America and one has the right to believe in what one wants! But if you dont like something and refuse to do that thing, get a job where you are not put in that situation!I dont like or care for certain religions or culters but I do my job and thats that!Everyone thinks that they have a right to do or say what they whant, but you also have to except that this is America and there a lot of different people here!.....OHHH Crap I Hate When I drink,,,,,
    never mind.
