Les Stroud or Bear Grills?
Wich of these two do you think is more "believable" as a survivalist?
I think both are capable, but Grills runs down mountains and jumps off ledges and all kinds of things one would be advised to NEVER do.
I like both shows because of the locations, but have wondered if others might see it my way too.[^]

bear grills is the man, even though hes been accused of spending nights in hotels while he was supposed to be in the wild, i still like him, its only a damn show, if he wants to take a break and rest in ahotel, so be it. He still gives good tips. 0 -
I like the fact that bear grills drinks elaphant crap, thats impresive.
What I cant figure is why either of them would want to leave any of those situations.
For example.
If i was castaway on an Island Id hide if I saw a plane.0 -
I like both shows, but I respect Les more (ha!) because he does it all on his own. He has an emergency satellite phone and/or sometimes the crew is not too far away, but in essence he is ALL ALONE surviving and carrying the camera equipment. 0 -

I agree with that for sure![:)]0 -
Grills does do the most "EXTREME" stuff. I'll have to giv'im that.
I think i remember him drinkin his own pizz[xx(]...
Jeff0 -
He squeezed the juice out of elaphant crap and drank it!!!!
Id take a chug of my own piss any day over that![8D]0 -
AWWWW mannnn[xx(] 0 -
Les Stroud does his own camera work and carries all his own equipment. 0 -
What is that thing Les Stroud always wears on his arm? For example.

Looks like one of those jell-pack thingys for tennis-elbow/tendenitis . 0 -
bear gryllis climbed mt everest and killed people in the military. stroud is a liberal canadian.
i like bear better0 -
maybe there should be a STROUD VS GILLS
that would be cool, whole series on who can survive what?!!0 -
I was just thinking about this tonight...decided I like Grill's show better. It's a more entertaining show to me. 0 -
I really enjoy watching and learning from Stroud, but I haven't seen Grills yet, what channel is he on?
Also, does anyone happen to know any books about survival in the jungle. Stroud had to leave early from his Amazon trip, it looked awful there.0 -
Bear is more extreme, but Les is more believable in a survival aspect, most people cant do the stuff Bear does, but Bear's show is more entertaining. 0 -
I think I watched that Bear guys first show. Surviving in the rockies. I watched him until he demonstrated how to swim a large fast moving river, (the Colorado) and had a lifevest on under his shirt!! Pretender!! 0 -
I think the issue is that they each pose as a "survival" show.
Les "survives"...on whatever he can scrounge and eating some nasty stuff.
Bear "vogue"'s it up out in the boonies, with a camera crew.

I think I like listening to Bear Grylls more because of the way he talks[:p] Also anyone who can throw a stick at a rabbit and kill it is ok in my book. That survival man show just bores me to tears, it seems like Bear is always killing things or drinking urine or some such, lots more excitement![:D] 0 -
Bear may be a little more exciting, but Les is more realistic in a survival situation. No Camera crew, only a safety team several miles away. 0 -
When was the last show that Les went the full time? I wathced three shows this season and he didn't make it through any of them. He kinda whines alot too. He does have some good tips and thoughts to ponder. Except when he decided to start the fire with his 7mm mag in Alaska a year or so ago. That was dumb.
Grills is pretty extreme but more entertaining and and I like listening to him more. He might have a camera crew but he would Kick the Canadian all over the map![}:)]0 -
Les does things by himself without the help of a camera crew. I haven't seen much of Bear but I'm far more impressed with him. He adds more comments that actually are important to survival. Les seems to just kind of hang out for a week and wait for the crew to come get him. I have a TON of respect for both of them, they definitely have some serious cojones to do some of the stuff they do, I'm just more impressed with Bear's knowledge and skill. 0 -
where is the vid of bear griils walking over the "dangerous" crack in the volcanic lava fields. viewers went and found that same exact spot in hawaii. whe you pan left its two hundred yars to a freakin express way.
les gets my vote. and he tries to get the f out of where he is wouldnt you0 -
Definitely Les. He is more believable. Bear is a hypocrite. He has a crew with him, and Les carries his own cameras. 0 -
Haven't seen Les... but I've watched almost everyone of Bear Grylls shows.
I think he's good. And I like the way he shows the dangers you might encounter.
Like jumps through the ice and tells about hypothermia, shows how to get up, get warm and all that.
I've seen others... "here's a real danger - ice - you can go through it, get cold and die!" and on to the next without showing it.0 -
Bear's show is more realistic since he doesn't take any gear with him. 0 -

why should he, he has an entire crew that does it for him
allot of things can be explained just fine without actually doing it, how many of us will be stuck in Africa and have the need to squeeze out water from elephant sheet, and drink it
I'll stick with les, his communication skills are good with out the drama exaggeration0 -
Neither Bear nor Les can compete in survival skills to the crew of Giligans Island. Now those were survivors !! 0 -
How is it more realistic without gear? A lot of the time in those situations people have gear. I like Les Stroud way better just because of the believability factor. Most people can't climb up a fifty foot waterfall or climb down a rock face. 0
