ON THE LOSS OF A DEAR PET:

IF YOU'VE EVER KNOWN THE JOYFUL SOUND
OF BARKS THAT FILL THE AIR-
A SLOPPY KISS, A FRIENDLY PAW,
    A QUIET ADORING STARE-
IF YOU'VE EVER HAD A SPECIAL FRIEND
TO SHARE A TEAR OR TWO,
OR MAYBE JUST A WAGGING TAIL
TO LIFT YOU WHEN YOU'RE BLUE-
IF YOU'VE EVER FELT THE WRENCHING PAIN
    THAT ONLY DEATH CAN SEND,
    THEN YOU HAVE LOST
    NOT JUST A DOG-
    YOU'VE TRULY LOST A FRIEND.
BUT GOD IS GOOD AND TREASURES LOVE
    AND THERE AT HEAVEN'S GATE
A SLOPPY KISS, A JOYFUL BARK-
    YOUR PRECIOUS FRIEND AWAITS.

He will be waiting for you in a place where all good dogs go when they leave us. I am very sorry about your loss. People that have not had a dog just don't understand the unique bond that is formed.

So sorry to hear about your little buddy. They will always remain in your heart, and waiting at the gate for your return. The poem below helped me when Shelby, my Chocolate Lab, died.

    Rainbow Bridge Poem

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sorry for your loss, In the past 2.5 years we have had to let 2 of our kids go. It is a long healing process and a day never goes by without missing them. Some folks say dogs we say kids, They are part of the family.
Remember the good times, and always know you have a guardian angle watching over you.

    FrancF,

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your dog. When I think of the dogs we(I) had, I remember how much it hurt when they were first gone. Then the memories took over and all I remember of my favorite dogs is the good things: the running, pointing and hunting in the field, the happy look on his face when something special came to him....and those keep re-playing in my mind like a video that doesn't ever end badly. When you get there, all you have to do is run with him in your mind.
