New OSHA regs Please read & respond accordingly,
Hello all,
Normally I would post this on the General discussion or the political forum. But since this particular rule change affects us so much I felt it needed posting here.
In essence what is being proposed is that small arms ammunition and POWDER AND PRIMERS OF ALL TYPES ARE GOING TO BE RECLASSIFIED UNDER THIS PROPOSED RULE TO BE CONSIDERED EXPLOSIVES. I'm sure you understand that the Hazmat fee will go through the roof at this declaration. It is intended to further cover employees who handle small arms ammunition and primers and powder. However, it doesn't really change anything on their side...mostly just our side. Read this site: http://www.osha.gov/pls/oshaweb/owadisp.show_document?p_table

and comment if you will according to how you feel about it.
Thanks for your time, I'm posting this on GD as well

can it be opposed? 0 -
They've been trying to do it for years now, I really doubt it'll happen. 0 -
Bobski,
It requires writing to your senators and congress-person to oppose this rule.
thesneakyrussian,
It appears that in this format all that is required if for OSHA to grant itself the permission to make the change.
I have sat back and watched all the b.s. things that OSHA has deemed Hazmat over the years in the aviation transportation industry. For instance batteries: right down to AA batts being declared Hazmat. It took congress to get that lifted as long as they were transported in a retail size pack. Ship them wholesale and it is Hazmat. Even though there is no chance of them igniting themselves. Aircraft batteries, same deal. Hazmat fee for shipping gunpowder, 1 lb. or 200 lb. All rule changes made by OSHA...NOT Congress. This is a chance to protect specifically what we like to do best here and that is reload. Under this rule change it will come to an end. As I'm sure the 'explosive' Hazmat fee will be economically "not viable". So, please do step in and fight for your rights. Because you are fighting for ours as well.0
