Anyone ever find a gun?
We bought 2.5 acres in October and on this land is an old chicken coop,My son ventured inside it and found an old stevens .22 weirdest gun i ever seen its bolt action,but has a tube under the barrel like a semi auto marlin model 60 does there was no stock on this gun but after half a can of WD 40 we got it limbered up enough to work the bolt might try some blanks in it tomorrow. anyone else ever find a gun?

Some people from a nearby town found 6 of my rifles in a woods where they were tossed by burglars. They had been gone 17 months, and 30 months before being found. All were repaired and made shootable except for a Red Label which had numbers filed off....the sheriff kept that one. 0 -
Not me, personally, but a member of my hunting party found a Browning A5 leaning against a nearby tree when he was gathering wood for our campfire. He unloaded it, laid the shells beside it, and leaned it back where it was. We waited. An hour or so later a pickup roared up, and a man jumped out and rushed over to the tree. My friend went out and explained that he unloaded the gun because shooting hours were over and a game warden might think it belonged to one of us. The guy was *very* relieved to get his gun back. 0 -

A friend of mine found a real nice mini-14 in the attic of his newly purchased house.
He turned it over to the police and after a short period of time they returned it to him.
He said it is a good little shooter.0 -

Sounds like a J. Stevens Rifle .22 bolt Action from the 40's.
The Springfield J. Stevens 86C is basically the same rifle.

not me but a fellow I work with who did not even own a gun and wife did not like them . about 4 years ago
he found two in his back yard a Sig mosquito new in the box and from the description he gave me a mosin nagant ,
he turned them into the police with several boxes of ammo all of which was wrapped up nice . and placed behind his shed.
I thought that was the last of them but the Police kept them for 30 days ran the numbers and also no one ever reported them being stole ,
they gave him a call at the end of the time frame give him the guns ( they kept the ammo unknow why )
as far as I know he still has them ,0 -
I was never that lucky, but my brother found a 98% Springfield 1903 (all numbers matching with a 1917 build date) stashed in the basement of a house he bought, he traced the ownership of the house back through 4 different owners and filed a report with the police but no one ever claimed it. 0 -
When I was a Kid I found a Kentucky Long Rifle in My Grandpa's Attic.

fellow came out from dodge city and told of finding a rifle hidden in a house he bought for a rental there...from his detailed description I identified it a 2nd model 1876 Winchester..it was in good shooting shape and made the house purchase rather cheap 0 -
Me? A L.C. Smith laying out in a pasture in the mid 60's. Wood was weathered white and the barrel laying on the ground had considerable rust. Forestock was missing.
So... Back home and hours of work. Rust wasn't as bad as I'd thought. LeFever in Rome, NY found a replacement forestock though it took a year. After that Elsie and I spent many fine hunts together and I made her a promise. The promise being that she'd be restored to her former glory if I could ever afford it.
Long about the mid 80's I kept the promise and she went to Ithaca Gun (the original Ithaca) and their custom shop. The folks there lavished a great amount of attention the old girl and she came home a thing of beauty. She proudly resides on display next to a sister L.C. that was also done at Ithaca.0 -
never found a whole gun but i did find a considerable number of parts from a Gen. One Colt SAA revolver. sold the hammer to a Colt collector/dealer for $125.00 a year or two ago. 0 -
Exploring an old oil shanty one time and found a cut-off single shot 12 gauge that had been there quite awhile, tucked up over the rafter above what would have been a workbench or maybe a desk.
Cleaning my Grandfathers work-shed like 2 decades after he passed, we found a M6A1 60mm bazooka round tucked in the corner.

He was a tanker with the 5th Armored Division and was involved in the breakout from the Normandy beachhead into France, and was wounded somewhere near the Belgian-German border. Lucky for him, because that unit faced very heavy resistance in the Hurtgen Forest, it would not have been pleasant. I have no idea how it made its way back though. If I remember correctly we called the the State Police and they sent a bomb technician to safely take it away. Would have liked to keep it as a dummy round, but, no.0 -
About 15 years ago I walked out to check the mailbox across the street and glanced down into the ditch and saw one or two pistols laying there. I didn't touch them, just called the cops and when they showed up I pointed them out and they grabbed them. Never heard anything else about it.There was no way I wanted anything to do with that business. 0 -
