I haven't had a UFC post in a while so here are my picks for the upcoming UFC 79. Winners marked with *.

This is the rubber match for these fighters and is a match up between the old school long time champ (Hughes) and the newest breed of well rounded MMA fighter (GSP) GSP took this fight on short notice but I can't pick against him.
Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva*
MMA fans have been waiting a long time for this fight. It would have been nice to see them fight when they were both camps but I agree that it is a more interesting fight now. Both are coming off of 2 fight loosing streaks. The winner is still a contender, the looser won't be in a another big fight for a long time. I'm going with Wandy because he is a more well rounded fighter.
Lyoto Machida* vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou
I love style match ups. Machida is a very patient (almost boring) counter striker. Soko is an in your face explosive striker with a world class Judo background. I have a hard time picking against a Judoka but I think Machida will control the tempo and win a unanimous decision. Soko is awesome but I think his lack of experience will show in this fight.
Manny Gamburyan* vs. Nate Mohr
Manny is a bad style match up for almost everybody. He is short, compact, and very strong. As long as his shoulder holds up he should be fine.
Dean Lister* vs. Jordan Radev
Lister is one of my favorite submission wrestlers. He has struggled (to put it lightly) with the striking aspect of the UFC. I've got my fingers crossed that with a year layoff we will see a much improved Lister in the stand up game. If I'm wrong I suspect Lister's UFC carrier is over.

Chuck has a great game plan. Those take downs were very well timed and kept Wandy on his heels the entire 3rd round. I've never seen Chuck hit someone so hard and not knock them out. Hats off to both fighters. For once a fight actually lived up to the hype.0 -
