Support the troops, not the war?

what can be said to people who use this line? i dont think you can support them but hate the cause that they are fighting for?

    I would say: "I don't think you can support the Men and not support the Cause they are fighting for."

    I agree - BRING THE TROOPS HOME!

    ... it's going to MUCH MORE CONVENIENT to fight the
    Muslims in America! We can kill two birds with one
    stone - let's face it, we'll have to fight the couple
    of hundred million Third World border jumpers who
    will be on their way, after Congress gives America/Americans
    away for $5000 a head - or 'family' or whatever the
    hell they are yapping about today!!

    ... Jeeeeze! If I had written a book - a couple of years
    ago - about what is happening today - no publisher
    would have even considered reading my manuscript!
    I'd been laughed out of his office - or thrown out, as a
    mental 'whack job!'

    I was thinking about this vary thing just last night. I would present it like this; if you say that the invasion of Iraq is illegal or immoral, than that makes the insurgents the victims and the American troops the assailents.

    So then the insurgents/terrorists are the the good guys fighting the illegal/evil invaders. If the evil invaders are the American troops commiting an illegal act on the insurgents, who are innocent, ie. the good guys, then the U.S troops would have to be the bad guys. So then if one does not agree with the cause, and having a strong sense of right and wrong, the only logical path is to support the victims, the insurgent terrorists from the illegal invaders who would then have to be considered the enemy by virtue of their illegal actions.

    The "we don't support the cause" types must then hope for a U.S. defeat by the insurgency who is only defending themselves from an illegal invasion. Or they must hope for a victory for the wrong doers, which is in conflict with their formentioned understanding of what is right and just.

    I believe that we went into Iraq with the intensions of stopping terrorism and WMD, freeing the Iraqi people from an evil dictator and setting up a democratic stronghold in the middle east. Yes the deal has turned to crap, there is a religious fanatic element of insurgent terrorist, and a religious civil war. Not to mention the fact that the Iraqi people and government are not doing there part to help resolve the situation so that the troops can come home. My 2 cents on the subject.
