Marksberry Muzzle Loader 'Polar Bear'

Hello All...

I've recently purchased a 'Marksberry' Muzzle loader gun, the Polar Bear model. Gander Mountain can't seem to tell me a whole lot about this gun and I'm hoping some of you out there will be able to shed some light on this gun...

Did this company go out of business?? Can I use a 209 Primer or should I use a 400??? What grain and what powder is recommended??? Any help or link or info is greatly appreciated...

Question's in West Michigan...

    You have got one obscure muzzleloader. I own 4 muzzleloaders and I study up on them all the time.
    I have never heard of your rifle. I googled it up, they never heard of it, either.
    Didn't you get a brochure with your rifle?
    If you could post some close up photos of the ignition area of the gun I might be able to help you.
    I am not sure what you mean by "400."
    Most inlines made in the past five years use the 209.

    When I was a kid a "dog-pile" was when you threw someone to the ground and then everyone jumped on top of one another, thereby squishing the poor SOB at the bottom. I am assuming that is what they were going for. Something to the effect that you will be buried by all the information. Hence the slogan, "All the best search engines piled into one."

    Well handgunhtr I hope you are right, and I am wrong.
    I have never heard that definition of the term.
    The only way in which I have heard it used was for a pile of dog crap, so I thought that the founders of the company had the wires in their brains crossed.

    Well, ideasusr, that is a good looking rifle! About $540 retail.

    The gun is set up to use a #11 percussion cap. This is the standard cap that muzzleloading percussion cap rifles use, readily available.
    What kind of powder do you want to use? If you use black powder you will get fine ignition with that #11 cap, it also works fine with Pyrodex.
    If you use 777 I think the #11 cap will also work. If you do have ignition problems with 777 they have a kit that will convert the rifle to use the small rifle primers, this is what they mean by "400." This is a very good ignition system. I would try the #11 caps first and see how they work.
    Try 90 grains of powder and the Hornady 250 SST.
