Nice looking 99, I have a couple and love the old Savages!!! Ive never seen one with that verticle lamination in the pistol grip area, Id guess maybe custom, perhaps the guys at the Savage site could help!! 0 -

That's a very definite repair on the buttstock near the tang. It appears to be professionally done, but it does hurt the collectors value. 0 -
Nice looking stock, but it is a repair and that rear sight is not correct; so as a collector it's a dud. 0 -
The verticle line that you see may be were the custom stock was grafted to the original. I dought it's a repair. The 99's don't typically crack vertically. And even with the non original stock and rear sight I'm sure that piece would fetch a nice price on the auction block. 0
