15 Minute Rule
I just activated the 15 minute rule on my own bid. A couple of last minute bidders extended the time on an item and maxed out my high bid. Thought I would give myself a little room with 3 minutes left. Upped my bid by a bit and started the 15 minute cycle over again. Did it to myself.

Jeeze, I love it! a+47[:)] 0 -
Not griping or whining but there must be some people who do not understand the 15 min. rule. They keep trying to "eBay" a bid in the last 30 sec. Oh well. 0 -
Reading is fundamental [:D] 0 -
They are hoping that the competition will miss that 15 minute window. I never bid on anything at any auction site until the last couple of minutes (or less). Why would I bid days before the end? Why would anyone? All that does is increase the price plain and simple. I like to get out as cheaply as possible...

no, they just change their minds at the last minute.

with the use of proxy bidding, the price doesnt necessarily go up just because you did early. the system systemically increases your bid up to your max. it doesnt automatically go to your highest bid. when i find an item i want at auction, i sit and think about what i can reasonably afford to spend on it. i make that my max bid. if i get it i get it but if not oh well. i found early on in my online bidding career for lack of a better term, that if i waited till the end and then got into a last minute bidding war with someone that i spent way more than i would have in other circumstances. call it getting wrapped up in the moment. so now my max bid goes in when i see the item. sometimes i win and sometimes not but i dont overspend. this is another part of my self control problem referenced in the debit cards thread it think.... 0 -
15 minute rule.
I thought this was another "sex or football" thread.

...that "rule" sometimes stretches the auction out forever...[xx(]

Hey- I bid what I want to pay, and go away. Sometimes I get the item, sometimes I don't. I stopped worrying about "snipers" that are not actually shooting at me long time ago. If someone wants to pay more than I do, well- (a) they wanted it/needed it more, (b) knew something I did not know, or (3) were idiots![:D] 0 -
A, B or 3 ? [:D]
In any event, I've been all three at one time or another.0 -
