THIS QUESTION
has been asked several times but I never saw a good answer. A few make smart ass remarks and the rest guess. The question. Can a private individual buy or sell a gun, (hand or rifle) on the floor at a gun show? Legally Dammit!

In Michigan the answer is yes.You can buy or sell a long gun on the floor of a gun show. I`ve done it many times. A handgun is another matter. My understanding is that you must have a purchase permit or a ccw in order to buy without going through a dealer transfer. 0 -

Legally yes. A private sale is a private sale, doesn't matter where it takes place, at least where I live. 0 -
The reason nobody can give you a straight yes or no answer as some of these folks pointed out, the laws that govern buying firearms at a show (or privatley) are state specific if you verify what state you are from I'm sure myself or someone here could help you. the alternative would be to contact a reputable firearm dealer in your area and ask them. 0 -
Boy I thought all gun purchases in Oregon have to go through a NICS check at the gun shows. Private deals outside the show do not.
I do know that all the new dealers at the gun shows handle the sales the same as a sale in their shops.0 -

Much may also depend on the show promotor rules. Paying vendors may
understandably have a problem with walk in sales, and pressure promotors
to disallow it.0 -

No private sales "at gun shows" in Colorado. Has to go through NICS.

No state requirement that criminal background checks be done on people buying firearms at gun shows, swap meets or through newspaper or internet advertisements. Criminal background checks are only required if the buyer goes to a federally-licensed gun store - all other sales are not subject to the background check.
Private gun sales are pretty much legal unless the gun is stolen, or you buy a gun to sell it to someone you know is not able to legally buy it themselves.
