FFL transfer fees

Just curious. What is a "reasonable" amount for a transfer fee (FFL-FFL-me)? I called around today and was quoted $20.00 up to $50.00 for a transfer fee (incoming---if that makes any difference).

    Is it normal if you have two guns sent to an FFL that you pay a transfer fee for each one? I am just checking boefore I go through with a buy. I was thinking that since I would be picking them up at the same time there was only one transfer fee.

    Seems around here $25-$35 is normal. I've heard others pay more or less. Just curious, what do you pay?

    Dealers, how much should this cost and why? Seems it only takes a few minutes. To me, I'm paying because you went to the trouble of getting the FFL, not how much time it takes per transfer. Curious.

    I have bought a few guns here at gunbroker. The thing that kills me is the transfer fees. I have to pay 50.00, plus shipping for ffl tranfer fees. I live in a Chicago suburb, and thats the going price. I could travel 100+ miles to save $25.00, but I don't feel its worth my time. There have been many Auctions of 100-200 dollars that I would have bid on. But add the other fees, and your not saving anything. Is there a member here that can do tranfer fees cheaper, out of state, and send the item to me? I don't want to break any laws, I'm just looking at a better, cheaper way of buying online. I have seen ffl's listing 10.00 for tranfers. Some say plus a percentage. Can the ffl's charge whatever they want to? Any help or info would be great.

    I would be generous to your transfer dealer. If he asks for 20.00 give him 25.00
    If he asks 30.00 give him 35.00

    That tip will go along way in your future dealing with your friendly FFL holder/Retailer.

    I see Barbers getting a 10.00 tip for a 10 minute hair cut and they do not have the BATF breathing down their neck anscrutinizing every move they make.

    I see waitresses getting very large tips for about 10 minutes worth of their time.

    Be good to your transfer agent and they will be good to you.

    One local charges a percentage on what you paid for the gun... another is 35, and the one I use is 25, although I get 'em for free now for helping him with his computer.

    The guy I use likes transfers - easy $25, and on top of that who can walk out of a gunshop with a new gun and not have ammo, maybe some targets, extra mags, maybe a holster or sling or new cleaning kit or.... It is basically a chance to upsell.

    I pay $20 to my longtime dealer/FFL.

    $15 + tax by my current favorite.

    One over-priced dealer/transfer agent charges $50 just two blocks up the street from the current fav.

    TGFMFFL! My FFL charges 20.00 and if you do two he does it for thirty. So I tend to buy in pairs. When you look at the savings from Buds or other internet dealers versus my local FFL with tax I save minimum 100.00 Bucks TGFMFFL!

    The lower the better, then you have more money for guns...[:D][:D]

    my dealer (my gun dealer [:D]not my drug dealer[V]) charges me $0.00
