I use Microsoft Office 2007 (Microsoft Word and Excel). When I installed Office 2007 I was using Microsoft Works 2000 (Word Processor and Spreadsheet). I didn't know if there would be a conflict between them so I cleaned out Microsoft Works before I installed Microsoft Office.

Now I have the same problem in reverse. I have some archived files that Office 2007 can't open because they are written in Works 2000.

If I install Works 2000 with Office 2007 installed will my computer explode or what?

Trying to list a couple pistols on the auction side tonight.
For some reason the photos will not go from my hard-drive and load.
    I get a window stating.

    "Network Error"
    Connection re-set by peer"

    Any clues ???

I've installed a new 19" widescreen monitor on my 'puter (Win XP, Home Edition, 2ghz, 512mb RAM, 40 gig hard drive), having a problem with the display of certain media.

Windows open up and look OK, but when I try to play a game, everything is skewed to the right about one inch. Any suggestions on how to slide it over, center it up?

    Thank yew.

The ol puter here wasn't acting right, so I took it to the shop. They removed some "rogue items" and defrag hard drive.
    Anyway, now everything's BIG!
I can only see a few threads. Everything is like all stretched.
Page size at the bottomis 100%. Text size is medium. Appearence and themes font size is normal.
    What gives?

Someone gave me a laptop that has windows vista on it. Problem is the person that put vista on it didn't have the code and of course it shut down after 30 days. I can get into safe mode. What would it take to put a legal vista on it? If I can repair it my grand son will get it.

Is there any way to see and view what has been printed from the internet or from the computer recently?

    Thanks,
    Bill

This hurts the pride a bit since I'm a computer tech, but recently my wife somehow got only one of our cd-rom's views set like this:

    cdrom.jpg

I've tried resetting the view, I've tried going to the other views and "apply to all folders"... Nothing! It is simply seperated by alpha letters and I don't see where that's an option. She thought she clicked by the name column in the normal view to sort by name. All I know is I've never seen this in all my years as a tech... [V]

Some pictures ar blocked by my computer. Is it the Outlook Express or the Norton doing the blocking???

Most pictures come through but if someone forewards an email with pictures it says that they were blocked to keep someone from identifying my computer.

How do I turn this off so I can get the pictures???

    Check your power source, first.

unplug the power cord from the computer, plug it back in

unplug the power cord from the computer and just use it to power the monitor, to make sure the cord works & has power

if you don't hear at least a fan going in the power supply after you press the power button, it could be a bad power supply. the motherboard could be totally fried and you should still hear that.

if that ain't it, some computers go on "standby" or "hibernation" and the BIOS locks up when they go to turn on again.

next thing to try would be to get out the computer manual, find the BIOS reset jumper on the motherboard, and reset the BIOS.

last thing to try would be to remove everything connected to it, remove all pc cards inside (except video), unhook all storage devices like floppy drives, cd drives, and hard drives, see if one of those was causing a problem (but very unlikely)

    else

    you're screwed! I don't know!

Unplug the computer from the wall and wait 10 seconds and try to power it up.
