Just wait for him.Someday you'll find him at the supermarket and beat the crap out of him. Of course while you are doing this, educate the educater and have him realize that you do not appreciate his way of thinking and ruining your childs mind with his BS.

I would request a meeting with the school board and the teacher at the same time.

Let them know that your tax dollars goes to pay the teachers to teach.

Not spill their guts about guns.

I agree with sarge. There would be a meeting with all involved. I pay taxes to have teachers educate the children...not instill values in them.

Values are to be instilled by the parents.

If the teacher is preaching anti-gun propoganda, what else is he/she saying? Drugs are good? Gay sex is good? Your choice of religion is wrong/bad? Teach them...dont preach to them.

I would make an appointment with him and sit down and logically discuss the subject at length. After about 45 minutes he would understand and stop his foolishness in the classroom.

I would have a meeting with this teacher and his principal together; not separately. Don't meet with any of the school staff alone by yourself or if they are alone. The important thing is that you bring a witness with you. Don't bring a good friend, but your attorney, if you can swing that. If not, bring along the local NRA coordinator. Do not say you are bringing the witness with you. Bring your wife with you, too if you can. Just introduce your wife and your witness to the school personnel as a concerned friend and don't announce the affiliation.

You need to prepare for the meeting with a detailed list of points your child has related to you. Try to get proof for your allegations, but that is not necessary. You must have an end result in mind when you enter the meeting (i.e. what do you want them to do) and announce a plan of action that you will take if:
--- the problem does not stop,
--- if other teachers don't stop the propaganda,
--- if other teachers pick up the ball and start the propaganda,
--- if this teacher or other teachers complains to pupils or other teachers about being asked to stop the propaganda,
--- if your child is singled out for ridicule, unfair treatment, school-room retribution, made to stand out in front of his/her peers as a "bad guy", or other abuse by this teacher or other school staff.

Ask the school principal to alloy you to audit or monitor this teacher's classes and your child's other classes once or twice a week for a year. Just sit or stand in the back and don't speak or interfere with the class. They have committed the offense; you are simply making sure it stops.

Be prepared to sue; the NRA should help. Keep detailed notes, dates, names, records, etc. Get a special notebook for this purpose.

okay so here is the follow up question....what if you contacted the school principal about your concerns and she says "of all the things parents complain about teachers teaching i really dont think gun issues are a top priority" !!!! so then i said "well if a biology teacher wants to teach gun control and the consitution instead of a state mandated science class and therefore put my child at risk for not passing or attending college then we have big problems". "in addition, if this teacher wants to spew his political beliefs then my child is going to start engaging him and disputing what he says at EVERY turn and there will be problems in the classroom because my child wont lay down and take this without speaking up". "so in conculsion, if my kid gets in trouble then you dont even know how much trouble you are asking for"

in answer to this question...teachers here are always saying things like this to the kids!...the only way i knew how to deal with it was to go to the school and have a meeting with my 6 year old`s teacher and the head mistress and tell them that i didnt appreciate them teaching my kid that i was a bad person and that i could be a crazy phsyco killer just because i own and shoot guns...it seems to be official education department policy here now to tell kids that guns are bad and they kill people, unless they are used by soldiers or police officers...they dont seem to accept that soldiers and cops own and like using guns in their private lives and arent crazy killers!..it seems to have worked..but its happening at just about every school here these days, i dont know what else can be done...it would cost an arm and a leg to sue the department, and even if you won, the govt. would just appeal, and in the mean time change the laws so you couldnt sue over something like this, its happened before with similar things...we are`nt a democracy here

If you intend on your child going to college, chances are they are going to hear that until they graduate from at least one teacher/professor every year. It's the nature of the beast in our liberal education system, and if you keep making a stink, it's going to negatively affect your kid. Teach em better at home and make sure they know the truth.

    Awesome advice.

You have to be prepared for this teacher to claim that you threatened him/her and that you're a crazy gun nut psychopath.

Hell, I wouldn't put it past them for the teacher to report you to CPS for child abuse since you're a gun psychopath and all.

Wolf's Game Plan" is correct. The only thing he needs to add to it is to record the meeting on tape.
Spanielsells is correct also. That's the reason for the need to "RECORD" on tape the session.
I've "been there, done that". They said "I didn't say that" , I said "Wanna here the tape" and held up the recorder. Shut them down real quick.

I guess you could record it, but unless both parties are aware of, and agree to, the discussion being recorded I don't believe it's admissable in a dispute resolution environment (i.e. court).

Edit: ...and they likely might not be (agreeable) without their attorney present.
Uh uh. You live in Colorado (as do I). In Colorado, only ONE party has to be aware that they are being recorded for it to be admissible.

What you can't do is bug a conversation between parties when nobody is aware they are being recorded, and have that be admissible.

I'd ask him what his qualifications are for teaching about constitutional law and tell him unless he is being paid to teach law to stick his curriculum (biology)and leave the constitutional law to educators who are inteligent enough to get a job teaching in a university instead of a no brain job teaching high school.

You might want to rethink that comment. I invite you to Google Ward Churchill.

Whoever thinks that recording a conversation is not admissible in court is wrong. As previously stated as long as one party to the conversation knows it is being recorded it is admissible. Even if you get a judge that does not know the law, the recording can be used to help you remember the conversation, and if you inadvertently play back the conversation a little to loud to assist your recollection, well that's just to bad. And yes I have used that little ploy to overcome a bad judge.

Maybe just e mail this link to the wanna be Ward Churchill. He would probably better understand the facts explained to him by his own kind.

I would ask the teacher for an open debate in front of the class and allow him/her to state their case and allow me a rebuttal.

They won't do it? As a choice of threatened legal action they will. One can file action in a small claims court for damages and while you may not actually win the cost is small and they would have to show up and you could use various delaying actions to extend the case to multiple hearings. Once concluded refile for a different reason and start all over again.
Enlist the local media. While they are certainly liberal and would not be on your side, quite the opposite, the fact they would air it would cause a controversy and that would instigate other pro-2nd amendment folk to join in if only by phone calls.
The fact it would be easy to show personal views of the teacher are being presented as policy and fact and that they are at least arguably contrary to recognized law and our constitution would make such bias-teaching less likely.

This all would be a hassle but it depends on how important an issue you feel it is.

    As a former school principal,

I would suggest that you contact the building principal and apprise him/her of your concerns. Remember that a teachers right to free speech doesn't end at the school house door. He is allowed to have those feelings and thoughts, However, that being said, he should not be constantly making speeches about guns or anything else, except biology. Any comments about a students parents and child abuse are completely out of line for a teacher to make, and may even be illegal depending on your states laws.

I would guess if you meet with the principal, the situation can be resolved. The principal is ultimately responsible for all the teachers and their classroom antics.

NOW if the principal gives you any static about it, just ask him to show you in the approved curriculum of the course, and ask him to point out the section on gun control and the consitution.

Parent, Teacher, Principal conference. Let them all know that the teacher needs to stick to the subject they are supposed to be teaching, and not preaching gun control.

i would have to have a meeting, because my son would tell him how it is, and then probably lead to a suspension
