I don't care what the box says, the Double Ace is NOT a double action conversion, such as the Seecamp conversion was. The Double Ace replaces the mainspring housing and grip safety, and it all hinges at the grip safety pivot.
It is sort of a squeeze-cocking arrangement. In use, the hammer is down, or at half-cock. To fire the gun, you grip it normally and squeeze. The backstrap moves in slightly against spring tension, and cocks the hammer. The gun is then fired normally. Releasing the grip lowers the hammer again.
It was another solution to a non-existant problem. It was for nervous Nellie's who wanted to carry a 1911 pistol, and who wanted to be able to use it instantly, but who didn't want to have the hammer cocked, as it was designed to be carried.0 -
yep, and now they make one to where you carry it hammer down, when you hit the thumb safety it cocks the hammer
