    Joe,
English should be the only official language, but other than that, I see no reason for anyone to pickup our dress, habits, or, especially, religion.
I don't see any immigrants trying to change our customs. Only we are, the white WASP of America. Who celebrates Saint Paddy's Day? Them damn Micks, that's who? I haven't heard any Mexicans tell us not to celebrate Washingtons' Birthday, have you?
What laws are being admended and who the hell is admending them?

That's like blaming women for getting the vote. They didn't vote themselves the right, men did.

The first thing we did wrong was when we started kicking God out of our country...just sat back and let it happen.[:(]

I firmly believe that the US, like many countries in the past, will be destroyed from within. I saw a film in school when I was a kid that stated the communist would destroy the US from within starting with education (schools). Maybe not the communists; but, whomever.

"So it shall be written, so it shall be done."

The Pilgrims were Separatists who felt it was useless to try and reform the Anglican Church, so they fled to Holland (pilgrimage). After twelve years the decided to flee Holland because they did not wish to meld into the culture of their adopted country, so they needed a place they could set things up in exactly the manner they wished, and enforce those codes.

The Puritans felt it was possible to "purify" the Anglican Church, hence the name, but they never offered religious freedom to their settlers. Check out the plight and flight of Anne Hutchinson and Thomas Hooker (I love that name for a church leader[:D]) if you want to see some information about the lack of religious freedom they offered. They wanted freedom for their religion, but not general freedom of religion.[:)]

We've grown fat and lazy - which had led to complacent and stupid - will lead rapidly to our downfall and demise - the Romans wrote the book and we have failed miserably to read and respect it but will repeat it to the letter.

I always heard parents say "I just want better for my kids than I had" Well, we got it. Combined with quantum leaps in technology and communication, we now enjoy a safer, softer, easier (Better?) life than any previous generation. And it has made us what....
Thankful for the life our fathers and mothers worked so hard to provide us?

    Hardly.

It's turned us into a nation of soft, lazy, ill-mannered children who are convinced that if we just whine enough, whatever we want will be provided. We're so damned concerned with our personal gains that we'll piss away our collective inheritance (This Great Country and the Principles that built it) for a moment's comfort. Work? Leave that to the help.

    Ethics? That's for suckers.

Rant over. Thanks for letting me spew.

    My point, exactly.
    You're a quietly brilliant man.

I lifted this from my comments on another post, but I think that they also apply here:

More people live more comfortably in the United States today than at any time in our history. Of course the Gun broker folks love to drone on and on about how great things were fifty or more years ago and they were right...If you happened to be a white, christian, heterosexual male. If you did not meet these "standards" your life here in this country probably was not all that great. If you were not white you could count on out right discrimination. Jewish? No matter what your level of wealth you were often barred from many establishments and clubs. Gay? Count on remaining DEEP inside the closet because you could be arrested or even imprisioned under any number of so called sodomy laws, none of which ever seemed to be enforced against heterosexuals. Women, even white women, were basically second class citizens with their career options severely limited: Secretary, school teacher, nurse, or airline hostess. There were professional women in the work force back then, but they could almost always count an being the last persons promoted, as well as earning perhaps 60% of the salary of their male counterparts (if they were lucky). Of course we have many members here on Gun Broker who dream of turning back the clock here in this country to "restore the proper order" to our society.

That's like blaming women for getting the vote. They didn't vote themselves the right, men did.

There was a story in the news today about two little girls who were refused school bus transportation because they speak ENGLISH. The school bus driver picked them up in the morning and took them to school but refused to take them back home in the afternoon because they speak ENGLISH. Nobody bothered to tell the little girls' mother before or after the refusal. They simply stranded the little girls at school. The school principal told the girl's mother it was unreasonable and unfair (God, I hate that word), but it was district policy and there was nothing she could do about it. The school superintendent told her it was true that the girls were refused transportation because they speak ENGLISH, but they weren't entitled to ride the bus anyway because they live outside the area serviced by school busses. That explanation won't fly because the school bus stop is two blocks away from her house and the bus stop is there for her non-ENGLISH speaking neighbors.

Now granted, this is an unusual and outlandish story, but here lately we hear an outlandish story at least once a week if not daily.

    Hey Joe,
In my humble opinion, it happened around 6-66.

To be exact, it was Friday, November, 22, 1963 ... at about
12:30 p.m. CST, in Dallas Texas. I remember it well.

... that's when the country started to go all to Hell.[V]
