Davis Derringers, what brand ammo?
I distinctly remember that Davis Derringers had an insert in the package specifying what type of ammo worked best but I can't recall now what that was.

Well, I ordered new firing pins and firing pin bushings from Cobra Enterprises, and installed them. I also cleaned the chambers and barrels well.
Now, it fires both barrels, but not reliably. (It will not, cannot, fire both barrels at once.) Sometimes, you have to recock and try again, and it always fires on the second try. I can't explain it. Maybe it is my ammo. All the .22 Magnum ammo I have on hand is old. It may work fine with yours.

My American Derringer's M-1 is very close-fitting as well and certain ammo does get mildly "stuck" but it's where the rim of the case seats in the chamber, not along the length of the case itself. I found that a slight "buffing", i.e a very gentle and very careful non-agressive deburring right on the edge of the chamber where the cartidge's rim seats plus Eezox dry film lubricant helped quite a lot with no adverse effects on performance. Later models of the American Derringer had an extractor added because of this. Don't know if any of this helps.
You might also want to take a look at PMC's ammo.0 -
Remington seems to work well, but extraction is still sticky. I couldn't lay hands on any Federal. Thanks. 0 -
they specified what kind of ammo because it has to be low pressure, due to safety issues. 0 -
