Joining the productive tax paying middle class
So I sent my resume to this company as I am ~5-6 weeks from graduation.
A guy I knew who graduated 2 years ago works there, said he'd put in a good word for me.
Got a phone call Thursday to set up a phone interview Friday. It went well, got a phone interview with the hiring manager on Tuesday. Hopefully as I am qualified for the job, Ill get an interview and then the job shortly after.
Best part is it is 10 miles from my parent place, but they are moving in a few months. SO my question is, given the money I will save on free rent for the first few months, what CA legal Firearm should I buy.
I'm thinking an M1A type, or maybe a 1911, or a browning pro-9.
If I get the job of course.

Exactly![:D], although I'm thinkin' a 1911 is in my not to distant future.0 -
m1a is a great choice, esp with limited options in CA 0 -
Class III Uzi.
Ooops... Guess that wouldn't meet all your criteria.
Send me the money, I'll buy it here, and you can have generous visitation !!

"Class III Uzi." I think I'll have a hard time finding one of those for ~3 months rent. I don't know what rent is like in your area, but I figure I'll save $500 a month for the first three months by living at home (until the company relocates). I'm thinking a used M1A at 1,000-1,500.
If kel-tec makes a CA legal version of their bullpup (like a magazine that requires a tool to release), then I think Id rather wait for that... 24inch barrel, 32 inches long, made in the US, ooohhh yea....
But then again.... I've also been 21 for a couple months now, and still have no handgun. 1911's are nice, but most of the made in US ones are too expensive, even the Springfields are made mostly in Brazil (right?).
The browning Pro series is US made and affordably priced, but I don't hear many comments on them.0 -
I know this may seem outlandish, but why not save the money in the bank while you can instead of living pay check to pay check once your parents move? If you've never lived on your own, you're going to find out it gets expensive real quick.
Buy the gun with your tax return next year.0 -

that's not outlandish, that's pure blasphemy, he said he was joining the middle class, not minimum wage0 -
I thought only bb-guns were legal in CA?? 0 -

5k+ a month isn't going to result in living paycheck to paycheck.
Car insurance of about $150 a month, gas cost of about $100 a month.
food $2-300 a month. Assume a communist tax of about 30% =$1500 a month.
Rent+utilities to be about $700 a month if I move out (or just commute longer). Internet + phone ~50-100 a month
5,000 - 1,500 - 700 - 300 - 150 - 100 -100 = 2150 surplus per month, figure in other misc expenses - 2,000 surplus.
And if need be I could commute the 24 miles to the new location instead of the 11 to the old- but living at home too long will get old.
As to living on my own, thats basically what I do here at college.
$500 rent+utilities a month, almost no gas $ per month. Id say I spend $200 or less on food a month.
Really the only additional expenses I'd have would be car insurance, higher rent+gas cost, and taxes.
I don't think taking what I save on rent+utilities the first few months to buy something will be too irresponsible, I should still be putting away 2k a month even with an M1A/1911 purchase.0 -

This should be given to a cause that will fight to ensure
that the rest of the nation gets to keep their gun rights.[;)]0 -
Hey, sounds good. You'll be making a lot more than I am right now after 7 years of employment. I'll be lucky to be making that by retirement.
Hope you get the job.0 -
