Printer issue
I have a Cannon S400. It ran out of ink so I bought some more and injected the inkwells.
It worked ok on black at first but then started doing this:

It hasn't worked right with color yet although it does at least show all the words.

I found that when the cartridges were refilled it NEVER printed right...usually cause one or more of the holes was plugged with dry ink...
Bought new cartridges and the printer worked fine...0 -
The nozzles on the print head are clogged.
In the software that came with the printer, there should be a "troubleshoot" program, and that should have a routine to clear the nozzles.
Frequently the use of ink that is not supplied by the printer manufacturer will cause random printing failures.
It will also void the manufacturers' warranties.
I was in the printer business for quite awhile, and I will never use anything other than OEM cartridges, and I will NEVER attempt to refill cartridges.

Quit wasting time and money on an ink splat. You can get an HP network ready color laser, whose toner cartridges will last 4 plus years for $399 (or less).
If you count how much you are spending on consumables for the inksplat, you will find the laser is cheaper.
I have had the same color laser for 5 years and it still has over 20% toner left in the original cartridges!

only way you can properly refill a ink cartridge is to take it to walgreens, they refill it for 50% of the cost of the original cartridge with factory ink, those ink refills use ink that is to thin and will ruin your printer here is why
your printer has a suction tube on the print head, it acts similar to a dentist suction tube as it is printing, the cheap ink will clog this tube, the tube IS A NON SERVICABLE PART, once it gets clogged, by by printer, it may happen the first time or the 20th time but it will happen, right not in your case your printer head is clogged causing your mistake {because the suction tube is clogged}, you may be able to set the bottom of it{cartridge} in warm water, and wipe it with a paper towel, then reinstall it0
