    Has anyone ever taken the top off a 96 Ford Bronco?

    Is it difficult? Were are the connections to remove it at?

    We are supposed to have good weather for a week or so, so I was thinking about taking the top off for a few days.

    I have, on a '88 Bronco I used to own.
    You gotta unscrew all the bolts and you'll need some help taking it off, since its heavy and bulky.

    Be warned though, once you remove it...the weather strips/seals never seem to seal just right when you replace it.

    GRD...if it is like my old 78 Bronco that I had there should be bolts along the sides below the windows (2-3 per side) and I think there were 3-4 along the front against the cab.

    Take those out and get a friend to help you lift it up a bit and walk it off from inside or slip 2x4s under it and walk it off from the sides.

    I once had an 87 (i think)Jeep scrambler and never took the top off.The doors stayed off however.

    Did it on the old RamCharger. The day before you do it, hose down the bolts and edges with WD=40. Also, you can get new gaskets from the dealer - they should cost less than $100.put something like Armor-All on the gaskets before you reinstall them.

    Post pix with the top off.

    yep,it will be hard to get the old weather stripping to seal out water again,been flattened out since what 94?, it is heavy be careful with your back!! get three or four to help you,have fun you will love it,maybe you should look in to a soft top replacement top for it [;)][8D],Loko

    I didn't say I was going to do it tonight!

    I was thinking in the morning when it is still cool outside.

    I have thought about the soft top thing as well.

    My only concern is my electronics! I have a decent stereo, Satelite XM radio, and a real nice CB that has been gone through in there.

    I can easily remove the CB, but the rest is in there pretty good.

    But I do believe my Alarm System would catch any tampering if there is a volatge change.

    If it was me I wouldn't do it for a couple reasons. First of all once it comes off and goes back on you will never be able to stop it from leaking. Secondly with all the electronic equipment you've added your friendly neighbors (who are still mad at you) are apt to have a field day some night (or would that be a field night?). [:p]

    i second it for not doing it, besides the driver does not reap the full benefit, think of yourself put in a sun roof
