I knew a 34 year old woman with crossed eyes. That physical imperfection affected her life and self esteem but probably accounted for her developing into a lovely person.
She said her brain didn't process input from one eye.
She was offered an operation to cut into and weaken a muscle between nose and eye that could balance the opposing muscle and conceivably center the eye.
Her family left it up to her but I, working very close with her, encouraged her to have it done.
She did and it worked. Her brain picked up and adjusted to the new input. She was happy as a lark and it changed her life for the better.
    That was 50 years ago.

One of the symptoms of my ms early on was double vision. The opto. fixed me up with a laminate and a pair of glasses. The laminate had prism like ridges that ran vertically, and made the yees work together. It did work, but soon opted to just wear an eye patch...for awhile.

On another note: i once had a pair of binocs that i'd dropped and was hauling them around in an old car i had. I;d gotten used to just closing one eye when sing them. Had a guy riding with me once who pcked them up and tried looking through them...while i was driving..."oh, i don't feel so good".[:D][:D][:D]
