Made it to Missouri
I made it to Missouri so I figured I'd head over to the PX and log on to say "howdy" to y'all. It was cold and there were flurries this morning which is weird because it was in the 70's earlier this week. Oh well. I didn't feel like trout fishing in the snow.
Other than that.....I traded the Honda Civic for a 2001 Chevy Blazer (4.3, 4WD, 66K miles) and am glad to have a 4WD vehicle again along with all that extra room. I found a place to live for significantly less than what my housing allowance will be so I'll be making up for drecreased fuel economy with extra $$$. I'm only 9 miles from work so that will be a good thing as well.
I haven't gotten down to Cable One yet so I don't have the internet set up at my apartment. I'll be scarce for quite awhile but I thought I'd drop in and say "hey".
For some reason I can't access my gmail account at the PX computer terminals so anyone trying to email me through gmail is going to have a hard time reaching me.

Ids - did you get reassigned? 0 -
Yes, I am currently assigned to Fort Leonard Wood. I didn't expect the "schoolhouse" to be so.....errrmm....."laid back". My First Sergeant basically told me that he just expects me to pass the PT test which is assinine since I'm trying to get promoted to E-7. He also told me that there would be busy days at work (Operations NCO) but that there would be a lot of days where I would have a hard time finding things to do. In that case, I'd be reorganizing the storage room or something silly like that. There are actually only four people in the Company (Commander, First Sergeant and 2 Operations NCO's--the other two are on their way out the door). First Sergeant told me to enjoy my first 12 - 18 months and to take some college classes during that time because I'd probably be moving into an instructor slot after that. Apparently instructors work crazy hours six days/week. That's nothing new for me.
I have to buy a computer and get internet hooked up at my apartment so I won't be posting pictures anytime soon. I'm currently logged on at the PX ($10/hour) on a "CyberZone" computer. My visits will be few and far between until I decide on a computer to purchase. I have a few other financial goals I'm trying to accomplish in the next few months so a computer is low on the totem pole of priorities right now.
I'm intimately familiar with the Bass Pro Shops about 90 miles west of here in Springfield. I've been to Fort Leonard Wood about 3 times for previous MP courses. I've also spent way too much over the last year at Cabelas. I managed to get one of their hard-cover catalogs in the mail recently.
I hope the Gunbroker crowd is doing great. I had lunch with Rembrandt during my travels. That's always a great time!
Take care.0 -
if you decide to go the other direction to bass pro in st.charles right outside of stl. lunch is on me 0
