Opinions on Zanotti safes
Since I plan on moving several times in the next few years, a portable gunsafe has become a must have item for me....
I've been looking at Zanotti safes....does anyone here know much about them?

dont forget portable means someone else can move it when your not home,mount it down somehow to the floor or wall, better safe than to lose your guns and valuables,if they want it bad enough they will get it anyway, crooks sux [:(!][V] 0 -
Rack, not trying to be smart here, but do a GB search for "Zanotti" or "safes". I seem to remember this same question coming up several times over the past couple years, an answer might be in an old post. Seem to recall not very many folks, if any, had any experience with them. Also seem to recall their web site being useless.
I've looked at them in the past and am also curious if anyone has used them.

They have a great reputation. I would discard loko's comment as they are not moved in one piece any easier than any other assembled safe. I would not spend the $$. I would buy a regular safe and create an effective system for moving it, be it once every six months or once a year, it's really not that bad. I don't know why you're going to be moving so frequently but if the safe is less than 1000lbs it's really not that bad. 0 -
After moving my Liberty safe once....I said never again.
Plus, I'm moving into an apartment.....moving in a 1000lb safe isn't an option.0 -

..Dig through the posts some more. I've been their biggest cheerleader. They should pay me for all the pump I've given them.
..I bought mine used, which meant breaking it down to it's six parts and putting them back together. The door still closes silently and the lugs go in like butter. The Zanotti was my only choice, as I wanted the biggest safe possible, but my house doors are narrow and the hallway makes turns very tight.
..Everyone always brings up the case that crooks can cart off the whole thing, so it needs to be bolted down. The only way mine is going to be taken is if they knock out an exterior wall. If they are going to do that, bolting isn't going to stop them.
..Just because it comes apart doesn't mean that security is compromised. Any safe can be taken, torched, or cut open with a sawzall.....even those Brownings and Cannons. Give me ten minutes with a carbide drill and a battery powered sawzall, and I'll have a hole in the top or side of your safe big enough to pull out the contents. Only stupid crooks attack the door.
..It's not fire lined, but any safe will give limited fire protection. OK, enough rah-rah. I like mine.0 -

i think people assume for some reason they can take them apart from the outside {lol}, wouldn't be a good marketing point now would it?0 -

...I don't recall what they are new. Mine has outside dimensions of 40"w x 30"deep x 60" tall, and I gave a grand for it. I totally changed out the interior layout and the cost wasn't a shocker at all. Plus, they sent the whole interior on just my word to mail a check later. Someone said that they had a bad experience on the phone with them, but my dealings were great.0 -

Haven't quite mastered this digital camera thing yet. I wanted to show a better shot of the pins that hold it together. The tolerances are very tight.0 -

...Thanks 1911. It's nothing more than a simple gate hinge.....tube on top and tube on the wall with a 3/8" pin driven through. And I do mean driven. You can see the hammer scrapes on the top in one of the pics. There are nine such pins holding the top to the walls. Same on bottom. I don't recall how many hold the back and sides together, and I don't feel like moving everything out of the way to count. 0 -

if your looking for mobility a Stack on. they arent great, but your stuff is secure, but you have no water or fire protection. Anything around 1000lbs or more is not going to be mobile. Depends on how many guns you have 0 -
Just wanted to post an update: I just got off the phone with Zanotti (very helpful, by the way) and they quoted me a price of $1267 for their ZA-II 5' model (plus shipping)
I had him send me a full price list, if anyone is interested I'd be happy to post it.0
