Out of state handgun purchase....

Well, I don't think my willpower is gonna get me through tomarrow. I have a strange feeling I'm going to buy that 642 I was eyeballing earlier, which leads me to this question:

I'm an Ohio resident, but I'll be moving back to Kentucky within the next two weeks, hopefully. The gun I want is in Kentucky. Can I legally purchase a handgun in a state I'm not a resident of?

    Sort of. You have to do it similar to the way you would do it on an internet auction. The FFL holder in Kentucky will have to transfer it to an FFL holder in Ohio who will transfer it to you.

    Going through the two FFLs, you could buy it now. If you want to wait until you can do an over the counter, you can do that as soon as you establish domicile in Kentucky.

    Go tell the dealer your situation see if he will take a deposit to hold it until you move. Then get your Kentucky license and buy it then.

    Well, I called the dealer this morning and explained the situation....Seems they deal with this issue all the time, considering the store is 20 miles from 2 state borders (Oh and Wv). They've got an agreement with a gun store in Ohio so I won't have to pay any transfer or processing fees.....I get to pick it up tomorrow afternoon.

    $391 total. I know I could have done better on GB, but there's something to be said for instant gratification [:D]
