I always think it's a bit strange when the news dudes talk about semi-automatic machine guns.

CSI -- the forensics experts identifying a murder weapon as an M1A based on the fact that the buller taken from the victim's body was of .308 caliber. This went beyond simple ignorance -- specifying the M1A led to a few choice questions in the line of, Why are people allowed to own guns like this?

Along with the countless guns that don't recoil -- the number of guns that can be fired inside a room, in the dark, without either the hearing or the vision of the shooter (or anyone else in the scene) being in the least bit affected.

    I thought the M1A was a .308/7.62mm caliber.

of course there is always the never ending magazine that must hold at least 100 rounds.
    And the 15 shot revolvers!

Yea, but many of the old westerns were also famous for it.

In Snatch, Bullet tooth tony has a .50 desert eagle with absolutely no recoil.

Also,I hate it when anybody refers to a semi-automatic rifle as an assault rifle, whether in a movie or not.

Shanghai Noon (just watched in on TV now)

In the final Roy vs Van Cleefe shootout. Roy (Owen Wilson) has a S&W Model 3 (or similar) revolver, and that... Euro-ish revolver that Luo Fang had. In the end, he shoots the Sheriff through his badge with a single shot from his S&W

But when he's examining the bullet holes in his robe, he's holding two Colt Peacemaker style revolvers. And they aren't his own custom revolvers that the Sheriff had stolen, because they have black grips (the custom revolvers had pearl grips).

Another movie on TV playing as I write this.

    The Frighteners.

Patricia is chasing Michael J Fox and... the female lead (forgot her name) through an abandoned hospital with a pump action shotgun (that has a flashlight /taped/ to it). She clearly didn't bring extra ammunition with her, but she had to have fired it over 20 times.

    OH! TV series 'Supernatural'

The spirit and demon slaying weapon custom made by Samuel Colt himself.

    It's a Patterson revolver, that fires /cartridges/.
