Im watching an older episode of COPS right now, 2 guys get into an altercation outside a restaurant, one man gets an "assault rifle", possibly an AK-47, patrons of the restaurant cant decide if 1 shot or 3 shots were fired, cops check it out, then an older hispanic cop says, maybe they thought it was one shot because its common on these semi automatic assault rifles to fire 3-4 shots with one trigger pull. It can happen, but i dont think its all that common.

i would agree not common at all, but my brother in law had one once that went full auto if you put the safety in between safe and fire 0
