Universities are not counted among the banned spots for CCP holders, but the university can still have rules against it.

Universities like Virginia Tech are privately funded, not run by the government, such as public elementary, middle and high schools. Possession of a firearm at a University is not a crime in Virginia unless it is specifically banned by the University. It is then considered a trespass, not illegal firearms possession.

And the states the university is in if its a public institution. Here in Indiana, you can carry on public university campuses all you want there is no rules against it. Purdue for example, has no rules against carrying on campus, I don't think they like it though. However, there is to be no guns kept in the dorms, and if caught, the person with the firearm and his/her roommates will be kicked out of the dorms for their remaining time at the university. This is mostly do to a shooting of an RA in 2000.

As far as I know, carrying on campus isn't exactly illegal in Kentucky.......but the expulsion I'd face, which would result in the waste of several thousand dollars, is enough to leave mine at home...

Too bad Chow-Tang-Sun didn't feel the same way....
