Teens Facing Sex Charges for Butt Slaps
MCMINNVILLE, Ore., July 22 (UPI) -- Two 13-year-old Oregon boys are facing serious sex charges for allegedly slapping female classmates' bottoms as a form of horseplay.
Police arrested Cory Mashburn and Ryan Cornelison of McMinnville and if convicted could be permanently marked as sex offenders, The Portland Oregonian said Sunday. The teens also could spend as long as 10 years in juvenile detention if found guilty.
While the boys' parents have opposed such a harsh penalty, McMinnville District Aattorney Bradley Berry said such youthful acts could have longstanding consequences for the alleged victims.
"These cases are devastating to children," he said. "They are life-altering cases."
Interviews with the boys' fellow students found other teens were engaging in similar behavior at the time and two of the female victims have since recanted their statements.
The Oregonian said the boys are due in court on Aug. 20 to answer to all charges stemming from the February event.
This sex offender crap has gotten so far out of hand it is ridiculous. Mass hysteria here, there, and everywhere. I know I feel so much safer knowing where these "perverts" are living for the rest of their lives...[:(]

Registering was a bad idea when proposed and just gets more ridiculous everyday. I means practically nothing, but the politicians can all boast about how hard they are on perverts.

It's part of this "Zero Tolerance" BS that the schools are famous for. School adminstrators can't seem to figure out how to differante between childern being childern and a real crime with crininal intent.

Like these sexual offenders can't get in their cars and drive away from the place they live to sexually abuse whoever. They could be anywhere.
Perverts are sick yes, but they are dwelled on entirely to much. The damn news here plays about 1/2 hour of sexual predator crap in a 1 hour news broadcast. Personally I know there is a problem, but people are getting way overboard with it.
I'm also pretty amazed that sexual predator look up system actually went into effect. I'm curious about when the first person starts looking up those folks and killing them how much the sexual offenders family will get after they sue. If they are considered that much of a danger to the community they should just be taken out of the community for good in the first place.
In my opinion pedophiles that are strangers are easily avoided. I just actually watch my kids and know where they are all of the time. Family pedophiles are much harder to prevent because their family probally trust them and don't know they would do that.0 -
McMinnville is a suburb of Sheridan, Orygun, and I for ONE am proud of our policemen for prosecuting these vile offenders.
Here in Sheridan, we have a (pretty much) escape proof Federal Correctional Institution which houses hard-core offenders like tax evaders and those who deface Federal property, that would be perfect for those vicious boys.
These violent sexual assaults must not stand !!
This is the Justice you may expect in Orygun.

In Texas, such an act is a Class C Misdemeanor Assault, not a sex crime. It is punishable by a fine only, no jail time.
I have had school administrators TRY to make it a sex crime, when one student grabbed or patted another's backside, but it just ain't, folks. I love to disappoint school administrators.0 -

I thought that the sex offender registry was BS the day I found out that a friend had been forced to register for, get this, public urination. Now I realize public urination could be somewhat offensive, but: HE WAS IN HIS OWN GARDEN! If they did what they are accused of, they need to be slapped around a little bit. Enough to get their attention. Maybe even taken down to the woodshed and reasoned with. Of course, in today's brave new world that's a whole 'nother set of crimes.
Since the politicians you speak of won't allow appropriate punishment of the real "sex offenders" (rapists and child molesters), I can go along with the registration list, but cluttering up the list with this kind of stuff makes no sense at all.
Sometimes I'm surprised that any of my generation survived to adulthood. I'm surprised that any of this generation makes it to adulthood without a criminal record.0
