Continental Trailways & eBay
My wife's granddad worked for Continental Trailways several years ago and then for Holiday Inn when they bought out Continental Trailways. Recently, my wife's mother (retired) decided to downsize and purchased a new (smaller) home. My mother-in-law knew I "piddled" on eBay and asked if I wanted some Continental Trailways dinnerware (plates & platters) used in the restaurants inside the old Continental Trailways bus terminals that my wife's granddad had kept all these years. These plates and platters have date codes stamped on the underside which proves they are 50+ years old.
So far, I have sold 5 platters and 1 plate on eBay for $288.50. The 1 plate sold for $130.00 and I have another 1 that closes tonight. I have 1 more plate and 9 more platters to sell. I would have never believed this dinnerware would have sold at these prices.

Ah but you've got people who are VERY passionate about railroad collecting, so that doesn't surprise me in the least.

Watched a minature milk bottle (creme bottle) with the name Thorsen Farms raised on it sell on ebay. I say I watched it sell because I wasn't going to pay $150 for it. 0 -
I've been surprised a few times with what sells and doesn't sell on eBay and the prices people will pay. I had three 8x10 pictures of Roy Rogers I sold on eBay. They were nothing special. Roy Rogers was at a "Grand Opening" of a Roy Rogers hamburger place in Virginia Beach and he had a gazillion of these pictures with him and gave them out as many as you wanted to whoever wanted them. My wife got four of them, but one had a big coffee stain on it so I only sold three. The first one sold for $18.00 and I thought it was a fluke until I sold the other two for about the same price. Then again, I've put stuff on there I thought would provide for my retirement and didn't get a bid. 0
