BEE-KEEPERS ?
Do we have any here? I'm seriously thinking about getting into it. What worrys me about it, is my hives getting "AFRICANIZED". Like most things, that can ruin the entire deal. I'd be very interested to talk to someone who is familiar with this ...Any info. at all would be apreciated.

You need to re-queen the hives every couple of years to keep a good strain,usually Italian,of bees.In the spring I always check the hives at least once a week for queen cells.If they are making a new queen,you need to get rid of it because the half of the colony will swarm and leave with the new queen and there goes half of your work force and half of your honey crop.Honey bees are amazing little critters and can be a lot of work.I would suggest start with one hive and take good care of it and it will produce more honey than half dozen neglected hives. 0 -

I have 2 boxes goin now.Their really mello.Sun. night i'm gonna scrape the boards and see what i get.
No "crops" in the area, so it'll be all wild-flower honey...0 -
I don't know a lot about bee keeping, but I'd like to see a few more people getting into it. You hardly ever see a honey bee around here anymore. It's more than a little bit bothersome. 0
