My german sheperd did the same thing with a raquet ball. Good save.

Glad to hear your dog is safe, I know dogs can really become a part of the family.

By the way, the American Red Cross has replaced the heimlich with 5 back blows as the initial response to choking. They also no longer call it the heimlich, but now call it abdominal thrusts. Go figure...

Good work, jwb! Damn you are a hero in your dog's eyes, and mine.
    That was some quick thinking.
Never heard of the Heimlich used on a dog.

They say that you can even do it to yourself if you are choking using the back of a chair.

As a last ditch resort i did it to myself, by slaming lower chest on the kitchen counter several times and then and finaly pushing a kitchen chair into the right spot acidentaly, to get a chunk of ham to come out.

scared the crap and ham right out of me.

    choking sucks, literally

    Glad your dog is good!

Good save. I've never done a dog but I did a guy who was about 6'6" and my 5 y/o son. If you come to my house for dinner PLEASE chew your food. I don't want to do it again.
