H & R 922

I have an old H & R 922 that I have misplaced the center pin for. I have been unable to find a replacement center pin and was wondering if anyone had one for sale or knows where I might possibly find one. The gun has a 6" barrel and 9 shot cylinder with a serial number # R50072 Thanks

    ...is there a difference that you are looking for? One time you say center pin then you say cylinder pin. If the pin is for in the frame, try a drill bit with the end that you normally chuck into the drill. Find the right size and cut it just the width of the frame. I have done this with sight retention pins.

    Well, I looked at a diagram and I thought that what I needed is called a center pin. It is the pin that holds the cylinder into the gun frame. Is that called a center pin or cylinder pin? Thanks

    I don't know what the official nomenclature is for the part, but this is the part he is looking for. I call it a cylinder pin, but center pin sounds just as correct to me.

    I have got the pin, and a gunsmith machinist about 80 miles south of here. Don't know what he would charge, but I could make a phone call. It might all be more than it would be worth given the pistols go for about $100. I know it is a family treasure, so if you want I can make a call and get a ball park figure...

    Numrich Arms claims to have them now. I just ordered two of them. My total cost, including shipping, is $17.15. If you want one of the two I ordered, and if they turn out to be the right part, send me an eMail and I'll let you have one for $8.00.

    As you may or may not know, the H&R 922 was manufactured for about fifty years with various minor changes during that time. I figure I have about a 50% chance of getting the right part.

    James, IF he does not want it or does not respond and IF you want to get shed of the extra, I will take one off your hands, and maybe have a back up for mine.


    Building fine guns one peice at at time for over two weeks.

    He Dog, this is what I got from NUMRICH. It's close enough to make me cry. It fits the slot and sort of works. It's too short to lock in and the cylinder acts a little tight about every third rotation. If I didn't have the right part, I'd use it, but it ain't right. I'll use one of them to replace the nail I've been using to unload empties.

    I don't fault NUMRICH for this. Somewhere there is a 922 that my cylinder pin (center pin) would be a little too long for. I'll give them credit for being quick.

    I haven't heard from f100driv. If you want one of them you can have it, but I wouldn't order one knowing what I'd be getting.

    James the new one looks like mine, except mine is nickle plated. I kinda forgot that. Did you drop an e-mail to the original poster? He seem like a nice guy and I had a couple of off board exchanges with him. Thanks anyway!

    I just sent Jim an email about the pins he has that might work. Been out of town on a business trip so I didn't see his post before now. That picture he has posted looks exactly like my 6" barreled H & R22 with 9 shots, SN R50072. The gun still looks brand new and now that I'm having to go to a firing range occasionally, I'd like to be able to use it again.

    I'll do that Jim, thanks, and I wasn't complaining about going to the range! I actually use to be Captain of my Combat pistol team when I was in the Tennessee Air National guard in Nashville. Had to give it up when I started flying for the airlines because I couldn't make the practices. Every year we would go to Little Rock Arkansas and shoot in the National championships and I really enjoyed the matches and hanging out in the evenings with my team. Can't wait to see if this pin will work!

    the "R" letter code was used in 1954. this is the second year of the model 922 second model. the second model was introduced in 1953 and any cylinder pin (center pin from the 1953 to 1961 era should fit). that would be letter codes N thru X. the model 922 was not in production between 1962 and 1973 and when it was reintroduced in 1974 there were some minor differences and these are called the second model 2nd issue. last known production for the model 922 was 1979.

    another cylinder/center pin that will work is the model 622/623 of the same era.

    Bill, Thanks for the info. I just got the pin from James and unfortunately the diameter was too big to fit into the gun frame. I will try looking for one of these other models that you mentioned. I'd like to thank James for sending me the pin and can mail it back James since it unfortunately won't work with mine. I certainly appreciated you sending it to me. Dave

    Thanks to b.goforth for the suggestion to try a pin from the 622/23. I found one of each on Numrich and ordered both. I'm not sure which one it was, but one of them fit perfectly and I'm back in business. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Dave

    I got the pin back one day last week. Thanks. Now I'm going to have to find an H&R revolver to put around it.
