home defense - different kinda home
Took a friend to the range, he had a blast with my ruger Mk II and FAL, and he and his wife are thinkin they may want a gun around the house "just in case".
Normally I think to myself "Self, they just said they wanted a shotgun". However, this is where it gets different. They travel full time for their livings. The work fairs here in Fl, Tenn, Ohio, Louisiana, etc. traveling between each fair in their pull behind house.
So I'm still thinking shotgun, probably SxS or O/U to be as Politically Correct as possible. What about various gun laws? If they are staying at a spot for 3-6 weeks, are they travelling thru or residents? They are both officially residents of Florida (DL, tax papers, etc). Not sure if they'd want to get their CC papers or not though...

If your home is a motorhome or trailer, "home" rules apply and they can have any normal firearm for defense. A shotgun is about the most normal firearm to have in any home and would not be much of a threat to LEOs in most of the country. But its a very serious defensive firearm.[:0][:0][:0]
I don't think its a good choice for 95% of the women out there. My choice would be a 38 special or something along those lines.0 -
A pump shotgun may be an excellent choice for an RV- since several areas and states impose limits on handguns, autoloading rifles, hollowpoint ammo,etc etc etc- BUT a scattergun is legal in most places that permit possession of any firearm at all. The purpose of a handgun is to be (a) portable and (b) concealable. But if your house is traveling along with you, both become somewhat of a moot point. And a 12 guage beats the stopping power of any handgun I can think of at close range. 0 -
Same for a 20 gauge if the little lady doesn't like a 12. 0
